The challenge was standard editing. You could have played a bit with color and saturation. I gave it 5 because I liked the explosion of what looked like ribbons, but the brownish background put me off.

I think it is an exposure problem the image looks a litle flat, play around a little with PS .play around with your camera controls also.

photography is about experementing and we learn heaps from our mistakes, However it was a bold entry and good on you for participating. Keep on taking photos, look at the work of other photographers you are always learning about this hobby of ours

I think this picture should have scored much higher.
I gave it a 7. The background colour is somehow unappealing. I would have changed some tones to lean more to blue.

Love what you do. Do what you love. Take lots of pictures. Participate in every challenge by thoughtfully voting and commenting. The worst place to finish is in the middle of the pack--this photo came in last, which means people had a reaction to it that they didn't like. So, if you can change the reaction to 'like' it will score higher. As you discover what you like, and shoot it, your pictures will become uniquely yours. People will respond to that. This is of course only one opinion.

I love the delicacy of this! Can you post your exif?

I finished one whole place ahead of you -- I don't think the voters were impressed by burning things this time.

I also agree this might have done better if color-shifted to resemble a "normal" fireworks shot with a night sky.

In the meantime, keep shooting and experimenting, and don't worry too much about the scores here -- if you are happy with it then it is a "good" photo.

Dear Fina

So sorry that your lovely firework display didn't score better.
The Challenge was about a resolution - something you want to achieve or change in the New Year: that is missing in your picture and maybe the reason why voters didn't rate it higher. This picture would have done better in the "Holiday Cheer" challenge I think.
Can you handle postprocessing? To darken the sky might have helped too. If you want me to help you just contact me, ok?
Don't be sad, just go for the next time
