Casting those fine serifs into the glass is impractical, and I don't think the font used (Lithos?) has the missing acute accents over the "e"s (another inconsistency) ... now if the lettering on the bottle was etched or engraved ... :-)

@Art: congrats on the HM!

Great definition, perfectly illustrated ... definitely one of those "why didn't I think of that?" ideas. Congratulations!

I like the lighting and composition on this one -- I was kinda hoping it was a mortar and was looking for the pestle ...

Congratulations, and thanks for including the info on your technique.

You can now crop the image any way you want, it just won't be voted-on ... :-)

This is a great example of the genre ... I especially like the "flash" going off -- it reminds me of one of my old shots where I took a picture capturing another photographer's flash. :-)

Hi Richard, I know you went out of your "comfort zone" for this, so I think extra congratulations are in order -- excellent work. And thanks for posting the exposure details -- I try to learn something from every picture I look at.

I really like the amount of foreground detail you were able to capture/retain, along with the great stars and perfectly-placed meteor. I haven't been any place like that for a long time. :-(
