Lovely shot Rian. Thought it would have done better but you were up against some Northern Lights (3 of them) and some other good ones too this month.
Agree with Giles that it is a bit tight... time to get a wider lens :-). Other than that, I think it is beautiful

Good grief - how did I nearly miss this slipping off the front page?
Great shot Rian - I know it was done in haste so you did a good job to set it up and still get a super shot of it before the light went. This shot actually doesn't even do it justice as to what a precarious position this tent is set up in: (unedited) but it sure is a magnificent view!

I was sure you would have gone with a Mponjwane sunrise shot but this is still a great one!
Thanks for joining us on the hike - had loads of fun and can't wait to head back to the cutback for some seldom seen angles.

Nice shot Harvey
The fire looks alive so a Dragon reference was apt.

Well done in the red ribbon Rian. It looks good next to my yellow :-)
Also well done for choosing the better (higher scoring) image. A well deserved ribbon and a sweet end end to tough hike

Great image and should do really well.
Something just seems to be wrong with the rock / sky on the left - like bad chromatic aberration and the rocks are soft like they weren't sharpened enough. Perhaps your focal distance was too far away (like on the lighthouse) and didn't use the hyperfocal distance?
Still a great shot though.

Cracker of an image. Landscapes are just landscapes and then there are special landscapes - this is one of those. The human element adds to this shot. Remove the human and it is just a landscape with some nice sun rays in the BG…. but with the human element it shows the scale and reminds us somewhat of the dangers of the big mountains. Respect the mountains and you end up with great shots like this.

I remember this pinnacle on my first hike in this area. You march for hours to get to this spot and after a short climb you come over this little saddle (with the pinnacle on your right) and look up at the Mnweni pass looking where you still have to go.
It took my breath away then and it did on this occasion too. Looking back up from where we just came down on this hike: . It was a bit daunting standing on top of the pinnacle with a blustery wind blowing and a huge drop to the right but in the end I'm glad Rian forced me to do it (well asked kindly in a stern voice :-) ). Glad my weary legs held me upright.

Lovely conversion but sadly these small dimensions don't do it justice!
