One of my favorite types of pictures is those with a path that lead you to unknown adventure. I love imaging what's around the bend in this *green* jungle scene. My favorite in this challenge.

Greetings from the Critique Club!
Appropriate to Challenge (Plant = yes; B/W = yes) ... YES!! I love the contrast and how the darker colors are out of focus while the whites are detailed (not crisp - which i think really works). It's a very sci-fi effect. My crazy brain sees a landing pad just waiting for a spaceship to arrive. The tendrils then gently close and pull the ship down safely.

While the flower itself is centered the stem and leaves create leading lines form the edges that offer balance. Good eye! I don't have any constructive insights ... I would't change anything (well, except to try and get the spaceship in frame). Congrats on a top 10 finish.

Beautiful. I love the composition and the contrasting of the blues and oranges. If I stare long enough I begin to feel like i’m In the scene staring up at that kite.

Challenge: I like how the composition first tricked me into thinking symmetry but then slapped me in the face with that point on the right side for the required asymmetry in this challenge.
Technical: Great balance, color and composition. I like how the tower and the lights in the reflection are the only asymmetry. Very clever. There's a bit of rainbow noise in the reflection on the bottom right side. It's a minor nit but once I saw it it kept pulling my attention (and I had to find something constructive to add...).
Overall: I'm glad you explained the approach as I was scratching my head to figure that one out. You pulled me in for a closer look, as I tried to figure out how you did it. :)

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Challenge: It's a Free Study ... anything goes, so this pretty in pink flyer is good to go.
Technical: Love the details and vivid colors in the feathers. The bokeh background offsets this nicely and helps draw attention to that gorgeous orange eye. You can even see the yellow ring of lighter color around the pupil. Definitely conveys the what do you want theme emphasized by the title. I usually try not to have branches sticking out of my subject's head but in this the blurred tree creates an interesting leading line effect. You made it work.
Overall: A solid entry with some humor mixed in.

I always enjoy a trail that leads off into the distance. Gives me the desire to see what exists beyond the horizon. The fence is only a small deterrent ... I feel a hike coming on.

Too funny. I love how they are all in black, white/off-white clothes. A lucky coincidence that keeps one of the ladies from stealing the scene. Clever leading lines.

Greetings from the Critique Club!

Nicely camouflaged subjects that definitely meet the expectations of a free study. (Anything goes!). These little guys are adorable. I love that they seem to be staring at you with a "what do you want" look on their faces. The focus on the eyes is wonderful. The gold really pops (on most of them; a couple didn't quite have the right light angle but you can't win them all). The grass around the owls and their home adds a nice natural frame. I love how the focus fades away and the blades blur into the distance. The composition is nice as well with the one standing off to the left to keep it from being a more circular grouping.

Ack! You've brought back memories of bleacher runs after school before tennis practice. I'm not sure everyone will see the geometric lines as negative space but I hope they do. This is a brilliantly composed shot.
