CARTOON CARNAGE

The 'fake look' via topaz making toys look like real life vehicles works well. And the remnant shallow DOF because of the close range to subject gives it a 'tilt-shift' effect thrown in also.

I'll bet it's based on a real story that actually took place on a construction site?

The 'cartoon effect' was probably the only direction to go in from images of toys. In the CGI film Ice Age 1, to portray the mammoth's 'flash-back' memory, they had to animate crude cave wall paintings. I think you'd done a similar thing here.

This is a great. You've got the blur nice overall. To 'fake' a very narrow DOF. I would of thought this would of got a MUCH higher score than it did.

IMO, could of done with more blur to background behind digger, very tight up close to above digger's cab and around arm, to make the digger stand out more. Also, I would of tried bringing downwards a full width of blur, a bit closer to the digger ,even engulfing the two men in the middle, so they look like they were outside of the faked narrow DOF.

Good work!

Actually, it's alleged that no camera at all (let alone an SLR) was used, so such screening you proposed would be ineffective! :-)

Congrats on the high score, I think this deserved much higher than 6.9075. It's probably because people the voting were distracted by a certain 7.5549 scoring 'other entry' :-)

I owe a big Thank You to the DPC community for helping me to define an ideology that can be used
to win first place and 'blue ribbon' in advanced editing. Now that I've cracked what the 'DPC formula',
is, my challenge has come to an end. This is nothing new, Politicians had always sought out which
particular ideologies are the most effective to win votes and elect themselves into power. Except in
politics you can't "ask for your vote back" or "un-vote" if you're later dissilusioned with the president
that YOU had elected.

Special Thanks also goes out to the member who posted a direct .bmp image and a method to
achieve the same effect. To demonstrate that one does not even need to utilise a camera at all, is
could well open the floodgates for more entries using methods like this (if not already already taken
place). But more clever.

As for allegations of 'plagarism', and 'judging a photo of a photo'? Welcome to the Real World!
That's what sells Units. Example: You've heard Madonna's 2005 single 'Hung Up'? It's mostly
re-cycled Abba (1979), repeated over and over. Listen for yourself:

I was very reluctant at first to continue, but I checked the challenge rules carefully which stated: "[you may] include images that are clearly recognizable as existing artwork when photographing your entry. Images that could be mistaken for real objects in the scene may also be included, but must not be so prominent that voters are basically judging a photo of a photo."
After I manipulated the image it became un-recognisable from the original, because the TiltShift effect took over, the bridge becomes a model and looks too fake to look real.

snowman in background I think is good thing there in background. Gives tree a sense of scale. Imagine if it was not there are all.
