Greetings from the Critique Club!

Yeah, flowers are kinda done to death, and trees definitely count as flora. Main problem here is lack of cohesive compostion, and the lighting looks like high noon or close to, which always makes getting a good shot difficult as shadows are hard and dense and the light very harsh and white. Shooting later in the day, or at sunrise, would have resulted in a vastly different quality to the light here.

I'm intrigued by the trees with no or little bark on them - up here, trees in that situation are basically dead! m Meanwhile please keep shooting and entering.

*Hello from Sid and the Critique Club*

A pleasing portrait that meets the challenge well.

Thank you for your quirky and helpful notes, you have correctly identified the technical aspects of your shot that would benefit from altered settings, ie., aperture priority and lower ISO etc., Having said that the end result is not significantly affected and is still a pleasing result that needs little improvement

Your composition is good with empty space for the camera to look into, the background is neutral without any distractions and the generally high key effect is complimentary to the white hair of your subject. To be honest apart from the altered settings there's not a lot else to add, well done, Sid

Nice inclusion of a human element. The lighting is good, as well as the DoF.

I'd be interested in giving this one a shot first.

First step for me is to decide what hierachy i want of the elements in the image.

I would try to process this one for branch, river, bridge.

I can either edit the low res version or if you like you can email me the high res and I will hit that.

will leave all the layers visible in Photoshop and outline the steps I went through in a small doco to go with it.
