The Unbearable Lightness of Beingby WaitingsilenceComment by Bear_Music: This is a gorgeous photograph, but to me it sings almost the polar opposite of the title. I see the castle, the rocks, the man all rooted solidly to the earth, unable to shed the WEIGHT of being and rise into the ephemeral. And it sings THAT song superbly. Technically, the execution of the image is spectacular, the detailed tonality of the very dark areas allowing them to express both density and substance is to die for. But I don't know what score to give. 6 to hold. |

The Vintage Coupleby WaitingsilenceComment by CNovack: Voted earlier coming back to comment.
First, you have an awesome steampunk/retro dressed couple as the main subjects of the shot! The photo is taken against the light but the sky is blown out and the sun's glare between the couples heads is more of a distracting element when it could be a contributing element. The sun behind them needs to be a supporting element to the scene - for example taking the shot at a lower angle that the sun is directly behind the left lens on the man's hat. Composing the sun's position there would be open up the possibility of a sun starburst pattern radiating from that 'touch'. Another possible placement of the sun is directly behind the woman's bonnet such that the lace trim will be illuminated with gorgeous light and appear like a halo. Let the sun be an active participant in this portrait of two interesting people dressed in vintage/retro costumes. |

Postcard from the pastby WaitingsilenceComment by tanguera: There is a real vintage quality to this, although I'm not digging the "dirt" in the sky. At first I'm drawn to the calmness, but then, on perusing the image, notice the masses on the beach! What a shot. Where is this? |
