Gateby PaulComment: Okay, the number, but it's really the tissue montage that makes it soar. Delicate, like paper flowers blossoming in water. Also the lines, a kind of establishing grid that is not unfriendly. Is this your town?

due Feb 29thby primabarbaraComment: What a terrific, creative idea to so cunningly express your happiness through a challenge entry. Great depth of field, with the photo clear and precise, and the two of you blurred but not so much as to keep your faces and mood obscured. Good fortune to you all.

Show stopperby NeatComment: When I first opened this photo I drew back, startled by his stand-out closeness. He's impeccable in front of a more usual street scene. And this street scene is even more interesting with it's dissolution into smoke (or steam or fog, etc.) and glare. Excellent craftsmanship.

DOAby HUETHComment: Curled up dead leaves are often compellingly beautiful. In their seemingly random disposition, calligraphic innovation, and subtle colors, they seem to have shed their summer for a new life. The background colors echo their recent past out of which is distilled a sharper elegance. Effective depth of field.

The Remains of the Peasby Bear_MusicComment: The brightish green stems and tendrils against the light gray stone are a wonderful idea, and so well handled. A playground for the imagination. Oh, whimsical heraldry, a Hobbit town map, the head of a cow ... Happily arranged. A fine adventure.

The Last Pumpkinby grahamgatorComment: This all squares up nicely, colors, mood, stillness. The modest squash, and its elegant stem, brings much bang for the buck, set off against the green and brown surround. Fun and unpretentious.

sweet dreamsby PennyStreetComment: Dang. My comment didn't make it through. Must be something wrong with my keyboard.
Fascinating in twenty-three ways, though I haven't the freedom to enumerate them at the moment. Okay, here are a few : mood, light, textures, seemingly arbitrary hints, quirky balance, fleeting glimpse of everyday wonder, lines, lines, lines, timelessness, which collides with the challenge injunction, but so what, wondrous tone, the jettisoning of fastidious focus, dreaminess (as noted), what the h-e-double hockey sticks is going on?, etc.. But my original comment was about two short sentences.
Ratings need not apply. You're well along a marvelous journey.

On a cold winter's night that was so deep...by Bear_MusicComment: Lovely, mysterious and spooky, even. Looks like a choir raising silent voices into the forest. The black and white treatment is perfect. Do I detect a blue cast? Moonlight.
