Hello from the critique club

An appealing image that contributes well to the challenge

A great find, nice one Harrison! I love the triangle of the three faces, he really has had a profound effect on them. I do think you could have increased the impact with more careful closer cropping, the door and chair should have been omitted with top and sides cropping. That aside, congratulations on the high score and placement for this amusing find

Big he certainly is! B is also for Brave for getting so close! Another great image Janine, I like the low profile and your choice of diagonal for the composition it works well. The eyes are nice and sharp, crucial for any portrait.

An interesting image that contributes to the open challenge

From this perspective if that shovel gets much closer he's the one who’ll be found in the rubble! Your image definitely benefits from the mono presentation but to brutally honest its not touching the spot for me in the way I know your photography can…

An appealing image that fully meets the challenge brief

Reflections are always gonna appeal to me and this does just that. Your title is quite apt its vitality does make it feel somewhat metallic. You don’t need to know what it is a reflection of the random nature of the waters surface breaks it up into something that takes on a life of its own to become another interesting transformation. Very nice Janine, well done

An appealing image that fills the challenge brief perfectly

Well, what an amazing bridge! Great image Janine and perfectly photographed, what a perfect location for the challenge. What I find incredible about it is that it is all so deserted there is no sign of life at all anywhere, no boats, no vehicles, no people not even a bird in the sky! And then there is that magnificent bridge cutting infinitely through the scene to infinity itself…

A very appealing and colourful abstract Janine. It has very surreal quality to it, the pastel colours are also very appealing, it does leave me wondering what it is and how you have created it, which is always a good way to leave your viewer

Your use of flash has captured the ladies very distinctly and sharply but there is the crux of the problem with the image for me. I am surprised that you have used flash in this way for this purpose in a challenge for motion blur, I think you would have fared better without flash at all. As it is there is minimal motion blur of the background only. What really spoils the image is the flash shadow on the foreground lady and the barring of the handle's position in relation to her face. A better image would have been the second lady only but I still think the use of flash for this entry was ill-advised.

An appealing image that fulfils the challenge brief well

You have chosen a famous landmark Janine well known to all your viewers. However, there is not really anything special about the image that makes it stand out from the crowd, probably quite difficult on the day but essential to really make it unique

I'm always gonna favour a nicely done reflection and this is done nicely, well done Harrison. Your composition is good with the well lit Chrysler building centre stage, this together with your patience to wait for a well timed action to complement the image has completed the overall effect very well.

Nicely composed image Anton. Together with your title the end result portrays the illusion that the house has been built on the road itself. The foreground road sweeping in towards the house leads you nicely into the image as a whole. It works well.
