Our Lady of the Shadowsby oldbimmercoupeComment by AbeSapien2: A white church, the quintessential symbol of organised Religion with the shadow of the older Tree of Life, indicative of quite another and older Celtic Natural religion, towering over it is a telling juxtaposition and a statement with much more between the lines than would first appear in a casual look at this. A favourite in this challenge to me - The chimney and the structure bear many straight lines, the Tree is curved and bends with the changing winds. |

shakespeareby oldbimmercoupeComment by oldbimmercoupe: many thanks for taking the time to post this. by far the most insightful comment I have received for any image submitted. I see your point about limited interest. bottom line, as simple as it is, it ends up an abstract (and we all know how well those fair here at dpc!).
thanks again,
jim

Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for my Mu (most underrated) award:
Positives: An interesting image especially in terms subject matter choice - I like the way you've created an impression that your image has a wider aspect ratio than it actually has. I also think you've placed the stage at exactly the right place in the frame. I'm liking the range of textures in the image too.
Critical stuff: Although I like the geometry of the image - I've been looking at it for a while and I have to say it tops out quite quickly, there isn't too much that gets delivered after an initial viewing.
Overall: I like the idea and the precision of your execution but if I'm honest I think this is one of those images that just has a ceiling in terms of interest level. |

barn not fallingby oldbimmercoupeComment by bobnospum: I like the composition here with the foreground trees and the background rustic barn. The bright red wagon sort of grabs my eye and takes it away from what would otherwise be a more muted scene. |
