I think the crop is too tight for the sort of 19th century effect this has.

Father of the bride? Excellent wedding photo. Imaginative. Profound, even.

This was already gone by the time I voted, but I would have definitely given this a 10. At least!

I think you should have had more thumb. This just looked like a product shot to me and I just gave it a 5 and passed on by. A more assertive thumb would have stopped me and forced me to appreciate this more... because really it's not a product at all. It's more like an assemblage. And nicely lit, too.

I like the use of toys in an image. It reminds me that all photography is an illusion. I gave this a 6, the same score I gave the blue ribbon. To get more than a 6 from me, I need something extra. Perhaps some way for me to connect the man with Bond besides the gun... like if you'd made him some sunglasses!

I wasn't crazy about this one. Using a logo to represent something is too obvious, and the eye reflection isn't original. I know that people use DPC to learn by trying other people's ideas, and that's great, but it's not going to get the big score from me. It's also not an appealing close-up. The color's a little funky and the eyeball has strange highlights in it.

in the shot that inspired you, the blur emphasizes the perspective, which emphasizes how close the gun is to the viewer, which adds drama. Your blurred portion seems equally blurred, which actually has a flattening effect. plus your gun's not long enough to show perspective lines. Size does matter sometimes. As to my score, I give inventiveness a premium, so a man holding a gun in a Bond challenge is going to have to work hard to get a good score from me. I don't think any of them got over a 6. I gave you a 5 because of the problems above. I also don't like blank backgrounds.

How do you get those round numbers? I gave this a 6. I thought it was a very pretty shot with great lighting, but no special quirk to move me. I bet if you had set up the props yourself it would have had that little something that makes all the difference. But as I've said, congratulations on not using a tuxedo or a gun or a Martini, for that matter.

actually, there is no mirror. it's just another photograph. and this is a rather severe crop, so I could have zoomed out. thanks for the wonderful comments!
