small colanderby tnunComment by icu1965: This is really nice. It works well in b&w and the slight grain helps with that vintage look. |

heron landingby tnunComment by MaryO: The shape of the heron and the color of the water are just wonderful! I would actually crop tighter to get rid of the foliage (make the image taller than it is wide), increase the contrast and/or burn the bird a little to darken him, as he looks a little paler than he should. Mind you, I'm only mentioning these things because this has so much going for it and a few little edits would push it into the splendid category, IMO. You got the moment and that's the critical bit! |

dragonfly on buttercupby tnunComment by MelonMusketeer: It's really nice that you got the body and wings in the same plane for this shot, which makes it very sharp and nicely focused over the bug's whole body and wings.
The colors in this are marvelous, as is the light. The little glow of fuzz around the body is the finishing touch. Message edited by author 2010-03-13 01:53:40. |

which way?by tnunComment by spiritualspatula: So much for the flocking instinct. I like the B&W on this- the subjects are well suited for it with their strongly contrasting colors, and it (IMO) adds to the surface of the water by adding definition to the ripples. |

Ladyby tnunComment by MelonMusketeer: The arch in the BG over the horse, and the horse moving toward it away from the viewer makes this image come across like a 1950's movie ending. It seems as if the story is over, and the horse is leaving now. Roll the credits.
It's a fascinating image in composition and in execution overall. It looks almost 3d too because of the lighter subject, and the tonal range in the BG. |
