Comment by Paul:
OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:

Positives: An interesting choice of subject - a brave entry. I think the general balance of the image is just about right - albeit with the caveats below.

Critical stuff: I think the slightly angled composition distracts from your subject somewhat. Also, although the pink pig is powerful, I think a monochrome presentation of this work may have been better received.

Overall: A good capture of a good slice of life (and ham!).

I enjoy how you managed to keep the poses for your two subjects somewhat similar, it provides for a strange juxtaposition. A couple of small areas of highlights are blown, but they aren't terribly distracting. Might be a bit macabre for the DPC crowd as a whole, but I find it to be an interesting shot.

Ewwww. Interesting but cluttered, perhaps the right-most portion could be cropped?

This is a fun image not only because of the clarity of pig-head but also because of the nonchalant nature of the gentleman in the back. It really demonstrates the difference in people. Whereas many people who never seen this type of ware being sold find a curious discuss or intriguing mortality to it. Whereas the guy who sells them for a living is just ho-hum because it is what it is. A Pig head hanging from a nail.
