Rowing Reflectionsby BAMartinComment: First things first - it looks like the focus is "wrong" somehow, as the building in the middle of the shot looks oddly soft, as do the bridges. Maybe a bit more USM/sharpening would help? This is probably the biggest detractor from the shot.
Secondly, framing/composition - there's a huge amount of dead space in the foreground, which could easily have been cropped out. In fact, cropping a bit off the sky as well would have made this into a good semi-pano shot, as the bridges lead the eye nicely into the centre.
Finally, the colours - it's a very blue shot, so IMO you should either go with a blue duotone, or seriously boost the saturation of the other colours. Alternatively, this shot may work better in B&W, since the water gives a good contrast texture.
Hope that all helps! |

Safeby cabaComment: Woo! Image 300,000! :o)
Interesting photo, with the clouds and sky bisecting the statue, but it doesn't really say "odd couple" to me, since I can't make out where the 2nd person/thing is in the shot... unless you meant the sky to be the 2nd? |

Dockedby langdonComment: Great textures on the wooden dock, but the leading line of the mooring rope doesn't work that well - if you'd framed it with the coil on the left, the mooring rope would go across the image to the right, which combined with the leftwards lines of the planks would lead the eye around the image much more pleasingly. |

Viewpointsby ImagineerComment: So instead of coming to the GTG, you were out getting ribbon-winning shots? Pah! That's really selfish! Couldn't you have invited us lot along? ;oP
Seriously tho, it's a great shot, love the orange tones, congrats! |
