Roz, this is wonderful news.
Many of your buggy pics "could" grace the front pages of any science magazine.
This one made it to the top!

Congratulations for your excellent recognition (and the accompanying loot!)

Thanks to ART ROFLMAO for finding this aptly named "Breakfast on the Fly" winning image.

its lucky i'm a regular visitor to ban the person above you from dpc thread .. otherwise i dont know if i would'v found this thread ... thankyou so much owen ...
& THANKYOU THANKYOU EVERYONE for the congrats ..
i'm over the moon with the eureka win .. EUREKA INFO ETC
it was a fantastic night on tuesday when we went to an ultra posh presentation/awards dinner ..
"The Dinner
This annual event has become the largest national celebration of Australian science, with possibly the most eclectic of audiences. This year living legends, industry leaders, seasoned journalists, young researchers, policy makers, distinguished scientists, philanthropists, school students, science enthusiasts and an astronaut will come together to celebrate and reflect on the achievements of Australian science."

bit stressful getting up in front of 900 ppl .. but i think my trial by fire in dpc prepared me very nicely .!!.
when one of the judges sat at our table for dinner and looked embarrassed when she was introduced to me i decided that it was definitely guilt she was feeling .. guilt for not voting for my photograph and knowing i hadnt won .. just goes to show that body language is easily misread .. she avoided my gaze for a couple of hours until i was announced as the winner .. then she felt comfortable to talk to me .. she knew i had won but didnt want to let me know inadvertently before time if she spoke to me ..
this is me and the judge .. of course i'm holding the award back to front by mistake .. !!

anyway .. i have some other amazing news as well ..
there's a bi-monthly magazine which is available in australia and new zealand called Digital Photography (dont bother googling it coz they dont have a website) .. issue 12 will be in the newagents probably early next week and focuses on macro .. there'll be 8 pages on my tips for ppl who want to photograph insects in their natural environment with maybe 12 of my insect macros ..

i've started a business, have my own website and many wonderful things have resulted from me being in this site .. exhibitions, album cover, photographs for websites, etc etc .. & none of them would have happened if i hadnt been in DPC .. it was my training ground ..
its the most amazing site .. four years ago i could never have imagined in my wildest dreams where my journey with photography would take me .. and i'm sure i'd be just one of many who feel the same ..
all i can say is a HUGE THANKYOU TO DPC for the education, inspiration and wonderful friendships ..
xxxx
and lunch MichaelC .. name a day .. !!
and Art Roflmao the party .. everyone's invited except you .. you're banned .. !!

Art - thanks for posting the pic. I thought it was strange that they did not show it.

ROZ!!!!! I cannot even begin to tell you how happy I am for you. I remember way back when you were starting to develop your vision, then you found it, and now... wow look at you! It is so exciting to see what you've created for yourself. Super big hugs for you :D

Please add me to your list for the article!
