Hi all

I have the D70 remote and I love it. The problem is that it only seems to have 2 settings: instant and 3 secs. Is it possible to program other settings... I would like to use it on BULB mode.

Thx!

I'm pretty sure you set the exposure to --- just before BULB and press the remote once to open and once to close.

The get anything else than 3 seconds, I think you have to change the time via the camera menu. I would guess the remote has two options, "instant" and "delayed", where the delay time is determined by the camera.

you need to choose remote shutter release option first, then set the shutter to bulb (Manual only). click the remote once to open the shutter, once again to close the shutter. If you don't click to close the shutter, it will stay open for thirty minutes (which is pretty good for star trails, for example)

Check your menus in the Owners Manual also. For the shutter release timer you can set it to instant and up to 20 seconds (this is the timer part, just as if you pressed the shutter button on the camera). You have to make sure the the little remote WITH the clock over it is on the top lcd screen.
The shutter length has already been explained.

In bulb mode the first click opens the shutter, the second click closes it.

Damn well worth it. Just very small (plus) so don't lose it (minus). I waited on Adoramas waitlist for 3 months for the thing. Just got it yesterday. Love it!

I have one, I think its worth it.

I used it on two occasions:

1. When I have to take a picture from the tripod, I use the remote to avoid vibrations (Especially at smaller speeds - 1/20sec).

I set the camera to remote shutter release mode

2. When I want to take pictures with me in them included.. (I set the camera mode to remote with timer and set the timer for 2secs).

The #1 is the most useful.... The bulb mode with click on, click off is invaluble too.

The only problem (and its a major one) is that sometimes the camera does not receive the command. This sucks big time because I may miss the shot.

Where did you get your remote???? I have been trying to get one, but nowhere can I find one in stock.

I just found one here. They say it is in stock and I recieved an order confirmation. We'll see if it is shipped. I added a note to cancel order if it is out of stock. Beware, they do charge an extra arm and leg for shipping.

I tried to get one from there 3 times and never won out. They end up going for over $30, plus whatever it is for shipping. It always seems to be the same guy selling them also, which seemed strange to me.

How do you go about finding the right code?

Has anyone tried the wired remote mod? I have three ML-L3 remotes so I was thinking about attempting it tonight.

The instructions are here. I would make several changes including an intervolameter mod.

I ordered one off of ebay, and it's a universal tv remote. you press the power button for shutter release and the cable button for shutter relase and digital flash release. it's way worth the five bucks I paid for it on ebay
