I can't believe that really is a frickin LINT challenge....I thought Richard was being facetious in his post and I hadn't yet seen the new challenges. DPC has really jumped the shark this time. Probably won't be long before I'm jumping ship.

Oh, blast it all. I threw away my dryer.

I thought I was seeing things when I saw Lint....looked again, Lint as a challenge?!?!?!? So just for laughs I googled Lint Art to see if anything came up worth mentioning.....

Someone has done The Last Supper in dryer lint.

It's nice to have a thread so people can vent.

Very refreshing.

A veritable whirlpool of opinions, right? Might need to be careful we don't lose a sock.

while intersting, not sure how bunnies or lint "art" really fits the challenge per se.

i agree its a bit too soon after bubble gum. what's next? hairballs? stains of various sorts?

Don't forget concrete. Bubble gum, Concrete, and Lint.

Good thing I re-upped in October I would have missed this.

When class participation is down and your trying to get people involved you throw them a lob ball.
Something like a color "shoot something green, purple, orange" whatever. Something that people can shoot while they are running around shopping, decorating, visiting, etc.

*wondering how many peeps are going to think it's a LINDT challenge and enter pics of cute wrapped chocolates instead*

Har har, dust bunnies indeed...NOT lint bunnies, btw!!

Reminds me of a housecleaning business that was going up here in Ottawa area in the 1990s by that name. The Dust Bunnies would turn up in lingerie and *ahem* clean house...I believe helmets were their specialty.

Don't know how long they got away with it before being busted as the prostitution ring it was. Can't find any ref to them on the interwebz.

Funny how it is all perspective. As much as I love landscapes, or long exposure landscapes, or free study landscapes, etc. Introspection could be a good thing.

I would hope people find this difficult, don't craft lint bunnies, and find challenge in making the best and most interesting photo- not the best score.

Hahaha! Awesome.

For the rest of you whiners, if you don't want stupid challenges, don't make stupid suggestions. They go in the cue just like every other suggestion.

so, ANOTHER light-based challenge??

Illuminative Subject II
Artifical Lighting II
Light III

but maybe there is some meaning in the madness...

maybe Langdon thinks we all came up with so many good ideas a few weeks ago for Illuminative Subject II that we need to exhaust all of them before moving on to other things, like Toenail Clippings and Hairballs.

;-)

My apologies for the stupid bubble gum suggestion...it will be my last...

Not everybody thought it was stupid -- people only say that when they don't have a good idea for an entry. I promise you there are at least five photographers (on the home page) who thought it was a pretty good idea sfter all.

I actually like my lint shot, and I am placing in the top 5. At least until more people enter... :-)

Langdon remarked to me the other day that the CURRENT "Light" challenge was planned in advance to allow an outlet for New Years Fireworks...

Best of... all the decent photos I shot this year were for, and entered in challenges. The few that weren't, I shot in JPG and imported with iPhoto, and formatted the card several times since.

Should've seen it coming... oh well, guess I'll find something I shot in RAW and enter it, someone's gotta get the brown right?

I'm pretty sure some images imported with iPhoto have been validated. If it is one of those you'd like to submit, you have plenty of time to send it with a ticket and ask if the EXIF is DPC-valid ...

That's good to know - maybe tomorrow I'll figure out which one I like best and send it in to check. Thanks

Re: Best of 2014

I think it's unfair that the Best of 2014 challenge is announced in 2015. If I was supposed to take a good photo in 2014, it would have been helpful if I had been notified then.

It's like the elections: There haven't been good candidates in years -- just just enter the best of the worst.

Or the worst in some cases….

Best of 2014

If you truly want the best, then this should have been Expert Editing. Getting the best should remove as many restrictions as possible.
