Start posting your October essays here.

Please link your photo essays to a DPC thumbnail, regardless of where your essay is published. This thumbnail will represent your cover image. To keep things simple, make essay comments on this cover image. Having this information in one place makes it easier to see the communities opinions and thoughts. We don’t have a panel to judge these essays so your comments are appreciated.

We'll keep the October Photo Essay Side Challenge Discussion forum open for continued discussion on the current set of essays.

If you were unable to create a story for October we’ll be doing this again in December.

Thank you, and enjoy!

Don, help me out (sorry to be obtuse) ... is the portfolio whole collection "Lost in the Forest of Who I Am" your essay?

Don't misunderstand me: I have no objection if it is. I just want to be sure I'm looking where you're pointing.

The bar is a bit high for me, but here is my contribution which comes from my son's business.

And just in case the Swazi Impi's execute a Blitzkrieg because of ubique's essay and I lose all my data, here's another idea I had. [I'm in HarmsWay better known as Barberton - 25 km from the Swazi border.]

Nope, not here anymore..

In the light of day, it needs a story or cutting..

I'm in awe - the quality of the current batch of essays is really high. I am somewhat embarrassed to include my entry here.

- The Idol Makers of Kumartulli

It's getting late here, so will try to leave a comment on the entries tomorrow.

I do like the images [hehe, who doesn't like his own stuff] but it's not a good essay. Perhaps I should bring it back as a study project for all&sundry to suggest improvements, or to write a story/get it to show a storyline?

I did not delete it, just took away this link [which I have removed once more, as I have received very valuable input from you and from Mariuca].
So if you feel so inclined, please improve I have received enough help to know what to do with it. Ach, this DPC is a wonderful place.

I decided to post this month:

A few shot's from our trip in NYC this year, titled "faces, expressions, and poses"

I put them in this folder starting with this image

I should probably add some words to mine, but that would involve a lot of moving... I hate moving...

I think yours does well with no words... makes us think about what you did (and who you are, of course).

That said, I'm sure if YOU added the words, they would be the right ones to make us think harder.

I guess it's kind of funny that yours has no words and it's the only one I've responded to with words.

Great to see so many essays. I've been away the weekend and just got back so will have a good look through them in the morning.

My second [now scrapped] essay was real bad, and I asked for improvement comments. insteps and mariuca helped me such a lot with their inputs, I just wanted to say:

This DPC is a wonderful place.

Ok -- I haven't been watching this thread, but Anita's made me smile. Now I'll have to go look at the rest. And I want to do an essay that makes people smile. I love the book Life Smiles Back. Some of the photos make you laugh out loud.
