Yesterday, my kit lens for my D90 fell off my camera and broke. I like to take travel photos and really enjoy not having to change lenses to zoom in. I also take photos of my grandchildren. I am wondering if I should replace the kit lens or buy a 18-200 lens. (I have a 70-200 and a 50) Where how do I figure out if the 18-200 will fit my camera. Are there special letters I need to look for after the numbers. I know I saw AF on the one I look at earlier today. I used to enter challenges but got caught up in work and babysitting, there are six grandkids. I just started back on the site thinking I could try some challenges this summer... now my lens is broken.

No, I have not looked at that yet. I will. Thanks. I think the 18-20 was on Ken Rockwell's list of 10 best lenses... that is why I was looking at that one.

I know changing lenses is a pain, but as a rule the more zoom you have the softer the lens will be. My minimum kit is a 70-200 and a 28-75 that way I cover most shooting situations with 2 lenses. I don't know the Nikon line, but my second lens was a Tamaron 28-75 and it has never been replaced. As a walk around it is the perfect length fairly easy optics to get right for that balance of quality and price. Plus it doesn't weigh a ton and balances nicely on the neck strap.

I have a 18-135mm that came with my D90...I'd sell it to you for $50 plus shipping. It's a good lens but I've replaced it with a 18-270mm (Tamron). It's been awhile since I've used it but it was a good lens. Look it up on the equipment lens list. PM me if your interested.

Ja-9 is offering you an outstanding deal.
The D90 has a focus motor in the camera so you can use most Nikon lenses. The letters to look for would be G, D, AF, and AF S. I S or image stabilization is also good if you can get that.
Here's the official Nikon page link about that.

The 18-200 is a perfectly fine lens on a 12mp D90. It starts showing its softness on higher megapixel cameras. The good news about this is that used ones are really cheap. That said, Janine's deal is better. Take that.

Can anyone recommend a good wide angle lens for a canon?
I am currently thinking the EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM would be best for my purposes. I like landscapes, and odd angles of random objects.

I adore the 10-22 Canon. Really nice lens. I assume it's still available...

The 18-200 Nikkor is IMNSHO the absolute best, all 'round walkaround lens ever. YMMV....
