Not to be out done by the amount of time between Season 1 and 2, we're proud to announce the launch of DPL Season 3!

For those who don't know, in a nutshell DPChallenge Photography League (DPL), is a 7 week tournament designed to allow users to better their photography through team collaboration. It's a fantastic way to take your photography to the next level by encouraging teammates to provide feedback through private team discussion threads prior to voting (not something we normally encourage) in order to create the best entries possible. It has the potential to allow users to really improve their photography and post-processing skills. It's a great learning and sharing avenue as well -- just what DPC is all about.

We have a fairly lengthy DPL FAQ that *hopefully* covers everything you'll need to know. If not, feel free to reply with additional questions!

The rules for Season 3 will be roughly the same as Season 2. The only significant change is the team size--we're back to a minimum of 5 and maximum of 7 users per-team like Season 1.

Here's the schedule as it stands now:

May 25 - Invitational team creation (Season 1 and Season 2 captains have a chance to resurrect their teams)
May 25 - Free Agent Pool opens
May 27 - Open team creation
Jun 08 - First round begins
Jun 29 - Mid-season break
Aug 03 - Season playoffs
Sep 07 - Season complete

Similar to last season, we'll send out an email to past participants to try and drum up interest.

Given the tournament structure is the same as last season, we're shooting for 6 rounds, which requires a minimum of 24 teams (120-168 players). I think we can easily get 24 teams finalized, but I'd love to see 48 teams participate again like last season (240-336 players). Help us out by spreading the word about the DPL! Contact old friends of the site and new friends that haven't yet used DPC. Participating in a team doesn't require membership (but having 2 challenges per-round available will certainly help your odds).

There isn't a thread, BTW...

to sign up...

Since my team "The Longshots" were 5-0 in DPL Season 2 (can you believe that!) I've resurrected my team and sent invites to most of the old team.

Don't really know what I'm getting into, but I've signed up right behind you.

Soon as I understand if we've had a team before we can revive it and add to it right (some people are completely gone).

Langdon is playing too? Cool!

Oh, heavens yes. I'm in the free agent pool too,
Just in case. Of course, with my sterling record lately,
I may just stay there.

I threw my name into the pool. I cannot swim. I sink. And I stink. And I do not play to win because I cannot win. (I don't have an attitude problem, I'm a realist.) But I'm pretty good at giving feedback. Not the kind of feedback that will make you score better, of course. Just feedback. It'd be up to you to decide what to do with it.

P.S. I'd be delighted to be on a team of sub-50%'ers. I think we'd have a blast.

If you are a free agent, or your teammates are no longer on DPC, add your name to the free agent pool thread.

We could start a synchronised sinking team together.

Never joined DPL but I'm curious and highly motivated to participate.
Just added my name to the free agent pool and now I'm hoping...

YES YES YES!

Swimming....

I did wonder what the percentage in the pool sign-up thread was. Chance to be hit by an earthquake? Score on your FBI chart? Blood pressure as % of your IQ?

Then I read the boring answer and ugly truth..
I feel so humiliated by it. There I thought I would be in last place by a long shot but noooo, two other photogs with little regard for their place in society are beneath me. How will I be visible to the captains as first choice if I'm lost in the mediocrity of middle members? Kneecaps will have to be smashed. Heads are likely to roll.

I have diligently worked on lowering my position on the average % charts over the last 5 long years for this precise moment, and am in the perfect spot to make a killing from my low handicap position. Captains can PM me for my bank account number, and I promise to purchase a better camera with at most 10% of my agreed upon fee.

debating whether to start my old DPL team or be more passive in the Free Agent pool ... Only one or two active photogs left on my team =0

I'd gladly join forces with you again , Alice =)
Although I don't have nearly the time I used to available.

Glad you decided to fire up the ol' Imagenation, Tate.
We had some wonderful players.
The first two iterations were awesome and we sure scared the daylights out of the competition!
(evil grin)
