So is the score going to be what's averaged? Or the percentile?

For instance, if I get a 5.9 in graveyard, but it's an extremely low scoring challenge, so I get a blue ribbon and 100%. Is the 5.9 what's counted or the 100%? It would be a meh score, but I high placement so we'd get different results depending upon what is the determining factor.

It would have to be by percentile because that is the only way to really compare between challenges that can have a very different distribution of scores.

Was this ever answered? We're thinking it's score but I see the problems mentioned.

I was under the impression it was percentile for the reasons above but can't find the thread now sorry.

Does it really matter at this point? You still need to do the best you can in each challenge you enter, and the same system will apply equally to all teams ...

It is all based on percentile.

Langdon says it's percentile. As to whether it "really matters", you bet it does. Suppose the two weekly challenges were "Sunsets" and "Industrial Waste". It's entirely possible the pretty challenge would have a couple dozen 6+ images and the other, only a handful. You could WIN the ugly challenge with a score that hypothetically might be beaten by a dozen of the top "pretty" finishers. This is why we went to percentile in the first place, way back when.

That still shouldn't change your ultimate goal ... and it "didn't matter" because it (almost for sure) wouldn't be changing at this point.

The seed percentage and season percentage can be seen on the team profile page ...

It was a valid question, not sure why you're knocking it down. Thanks Bear for the answer.

I have to agree and that comment is not something I would expect from a member of site counsel, completely unprofessional.

what exactly does "seed" percentage mean?
06/22/2015 06:27:07 PM · #13
I think 'seed percentage' is the average percentile you received on your last 10 submissions, and it was averaged for each team. It was just an indicator of the relative strength of each team as DPL started. It shouldn't have any effect on week-to-week contests, as far as I know. If I'm wrong about this, please correct me.

You are correct, that's unless I am completely off mark on this one.

/\/\ This and I think the 'seed percentage' was used to rank teams for placing into conferences.

I assume that the top 4 percentiles are taken from 4 team members over the two weekly challenges and the best average wins. Simple as that. So in fact, your actual score is not what matters, but your finish position. This is an important difference. You could have a big differential between 1st and 2nd for example, but by percentile they are almost the same.
