The clouds are horrible tonight, but I did get a short break in them.
Since I really don't have a good lens for this - just the 70-200mm L f4 - this is the best I could do.

How did everyone else do?

"Twas a good show! I left the camera indoors and just enjoyed with a pair of binoculars. Cloudy all day, then like magic the clouds departed about an hour before showtime.

This was my first time too, sorry for the low quality I grabbed it off FB and didn't know they compressed images when uploading to there.

560mm (100-400mm + 1.4x teleconverter)

nice shots guys! I am so jealous of those with longer reach than my little ole 70-200mm. I even used the 1.4x tele on it but could not pick up details.

Even with the reach I had, I needed to crop it a fair bit... I really wish I had a telescope that my camera could hook up too or an 800mm lens with a x2 converter... That would be nice... Lol. =)

Good weather, lousy preparation. I just ran out the door with my tripod and a long lens. No extender and no telescope, but we had a great view.

Not well versed on astronomy or astrophotography. At all. My neighbors took out gadgets so I did as well. Was the highlight the eclipse or the redish tone?

Tough to tell but I think this might be a street lamp

I was the same. will upload my better shot later.
we had lots of cloud cover - couldn't get anything with less that a 1 second shot, and even with remote and tripod, still had a bit of shake from the mirror flipping up....next time around, mirror lock up will be used.

This was the first eclipse I have ever seen. Left my tripod at work and only had a 200 mm lens, but made the best of it handheld by choosing all of my own settings. I'm not much of a space/moon person - the vastness of all of that really freaks me out - but admittedly this event was kind of interesting.

(No PP, and not nearly as detailed or nice as others, but they're special to me).

(edit to note that apparently I am the queen of 'how much black can I include in a photograph')

Yeah, I remembered at the "last minute" when my brother called ... didn't have time to get away from the wires, but it was a good chance to experiment with getting streaking car lights, which I hadn't done before ...

I like all the wonderful photos here. Too bad I forgot to set my alarm :(

My experience with the lunar eclipse was something of a bust. Moonrise was forecast for 7:30 p.m. I knew the moon wouldn't appear until about twenty minutes after that because it had to rise over some mountains. What I hadn't counted on was a lot of haze (we're right on the coast), and the moon didn't make it above the haze until around 8:30 p.m. By that time it was completely dark and any super moon effect from proximity with landmarks was gone. Actually, I'm surprised that the picture of the full eclipse turned out as well as it did, because the moon was really hard to see because of the haze and the shadow and I wasn't sure I'd gotten the focusing right. The partial eclipse was taken from my back yard.

My OH got up to see it so I made the most of the extra space for an hour knowing you guys would all have been out there on my behalf :)

What a difference a few miles makes. You saw the eclipse while I stuck my nose out the door to see high fog covering the sky and went back in & closed the curtains.

Very cool shots guys! Loving this thread!

I was just so happy there was no 2am mornings and it was during regular awake time :-))

I drove 20 minutes out of the city limits to get away from the lights.

It was soo awesome to watch.. I had my daughter come out with me and was teaching her the camera.
We had a lot of special girl time and good chats. Amazing what a few hrs of quiet time with no electronics distraction will do.

It was so cloudy we had it clear up until the eclipse, then after that the clouds moved in so was not able to see the end and second half of it. Blessed to have seen the first half.

I am surprised you got these. I looked out my window when the moon was about half covered, and when I checked about 20 minutes later, no moon, completely clouded over. I guess it cleared off again later.
