Levi Bettwieser started developing rolls of film he found in thrift store cameras, and it's morphed into "The Rescued Film Project" :-) Browse away! It's fascinating. |

Cool!
What I also think is cool is when you click on "older posts" it scrolls past all the ones you just looked at and it loads fresh ones with no discernible lag. |

I've done some of this myself. It can be quite addictive. |

I have a plastic grocery size bag of exposed rolls from the 80's and 90's. I really should get them developed! |

Wouldn't be a bad idea to try to recreate one of these shots for a challenge, I don't mean choose one and copy it but try to get the crass crappy look.. pointless snaps kinda thing, may be fun? |

Capture a crass and pointless image? Would be interesting to see what everybody comes up with. |

Whoa... that's the challenge idea!! That takes candid to the next level. You should probably add no nudity on this one, so they don't try to sue you. :) |

I rather think the point is that people in the past had a quite different relationship to the camera. Today people are more knowing, and generally more guarded. As well the camera has changed - not so much its almost banal ubiquity, or improved IQ, but its lenses and versatility: the old large format portrait camera was one thing, and the small wide angle gets-all quite another. It was all less slick and polished, and time and chance had more play. |
