I attended cooking school in Italy last month and would like to send each instructor a photograph as a thank you but I would like them to be able to slip it in a standard size frame and not need to have it custom framed. Does anyone know what the standard frame sizes are in Europe? Thank you for any info you might be able to share.

I'll tell you what you want to know, if... you send me the recipes and cooking tips you learned in the cooking school.

:D

But, I will warn you that... I'll only be asking my daughter (who did her doctorate internship there... two years ago) and will probably just be Googling for the answer that I give to you.

*grin*

BUT... she made many friends there... and ... if you really want to know, I'll find out for you... if others from the area don't reply.

You're TOTALLY generous to be asking... so you can do this for others!

In Europe the measures for prints are in centimeter.
Common sizes are:
10x15 cm
13x18 cm
20x30 cm
and so on
A lot of frames are available for these sizes

These are the smaller sizes - since you will send the prints with mail, won't you?
If you have any further questions I'll be happy to help

In the UK both metric and imperial sizes are freely available, standard frames with variable matts are also on the shelves. As most of these are made in the EU it's more than likely that Italy has similar availability. Have you had a look on "Amazon.it"? Search for "cornice".

Hi ..I live here in Italy and can confirm with the others.. you can get standard cm measurements here for any "cornice" you desire.
I am sure the lovely folk will be happy to accept your gift and to share it with MAMMA..!
Do post us a couple of your sample food shots if you get a chance!

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate your help. Lydia, the school I went to is www.organictuscany.org and they actually have a good selection of the recipes we made on their web site. Go to the home page and scroll down to the bottom to find Our Recipes. Now the techniques...that's another story. But I can't say enough good things about the school. They were amazing and so was the food.
