So it appears as though I'm going to have an even dozen (12) challenges where I have failed to meet my own average, and failed to get into the upper half (with one at 51%!) in the limited field of challengers. So why should I continue to play? I do like having challenges to shoot for. So there's that. But (and this is a serous question) is it fair to the few voters we have left to continue to apparently bother you with my entries? We're down to just a handful of voters these days. Would it be best to just stick to Facebook? Does anyone want to point out why I'm doing so very poorly these days? (I'm guessing "boring" is the main reason. I'm pretty sure at least a few have actually met the challenge.)

The one plus for the rest of you is that when I do play, I vote more. And I tend to vote higher (much higher) than I receive. So there's THAT.

Out of the last twenty of my entries, only three scored above my average.

I think it's everywhere, Deb.

I'll look for you on FB, as usual, but stay and play.

The more, the merrier...

Yay! Good to have company! (Of course, you do have a ribbon and three stars in those last twenty. That's not too shabby!)

I wonder the same myself some days, however, I like to play because it keeps me shooting for different stuff.
I will join you in this misfit island land LOL No need to go, you can stay and we can start a new kind of party.

I don't enter often anymore because I hate tanking each time, especially when I really like a photo. And only entering the ones that even I think are below average isn't the answer, either.

Facebook is much nicer....... people oooooooh and aaaaaaah a lot LOL LOL LOL

the thing is, your average is way too high. challenge yourself and the voters more.

Play.

DPC needs you. I don't know if I'm going to stay in a DPC without you in it.

Out of my submissions for the year, I do have two posthumous comments and one posthumous award, plus a flying pig, so I guess it's not all bad.

How about this?

Stay. Play. Strive to lower your average by aggressively taking on something you'd like to emulate and are willing to do poorly at first.. Something that even when done exceptionally well, won't sell to the voters. If you've had (and you value) comments and bling from Don and Annie, then throw your average to the wind and strive to hone a style that attracts them and those of their same iik.

For what it's worth, I really like your edgier stuff. From this year alone, I'd pick these three as standouts:

Stick around. Do this kinda stuff. Screw the average.

I'm sorry for those of you who are unhappy with the scores and certainly don't want to loose anymore talented photographers on this site. You're a great family of awesomely talented people. Please don't base your scores over your talents. I respect each of your talents and any and all of your help. You've welcomed me with open arms and offered your support which is something you won't find on other sites. Karin, Lydia, Johanna, Anita, Marnet, Janine and many more who have made helpful comments and offered their help. Where else will you find that? You are a very passionate group and I feel so honored to be a part of DPC. There is no way I can thank you enough. I hope to meet up with you some day so please hang in there for people like myself who needs your expertise and encouraging words of advise.

Deb, you belong here. Your work, your vision, your humor, your style. You regularly win accolades from some of the more respected fellow photographers. Something I rarely receive anymore ;)

Timothy, darlin', you're one of the reasons I am still here. And that weird bvy guy. And a few others.

Mr. Banning, I quite liked that purple one of the parking lot you posted of mine. Thought it fit the challenge well, too. It's a nice place to drive by at night and watch the planes. And it fascinates me that the whole lot is unused now. Just sits there. The one next to it is used, but this one - all by its lonesome. That's the kind of thing I enjoy about photography. Glad you liked it!

I kinda like doing what I do. I like sharing it. I get discouraged with the scores, but then, in truth, I am not really all that good. I'm quirky, and a little out of whack, and that works for me. And my average is pretty much stuck where it is for all eternity - it's a mathematical thing at this point. That's fine. I *am* doing a fine job of staying below it, but to be honest, I'm lacking in 4s. I can work on that. :-)

hmmm kind of...

Stay and play Deb, scores don't count for anything here, a high score doesn't mean a better image, its just an easier photo to swallow that's all, don't try to produce fast food to please everyone, get your toque on and stay in the house.

OK, so I'm now in Fallen, Extended Free Study, and Purple. Working on a Free Study.

That means at least four challenges will get my votes, too!

Tibi, you're just a little crazy, but in a very, very good way. :-)

I am happy to hear that, regardless of what Tiny thinks.

Well, Deb, one thing about averages - and I should know -
even if you don't shoot your average for a while, your average will catch up with you.

At least, that's what's happening to my scores.
I'm down in the lower section of the pack these days and shooting what I want to shoot.
As long as "I like it" the score's okay whatever it is.

It's always good to see your work on the site, and if it's down next to mine, that's a bonus for me.

Had a good idea for fallen but weather is not cooperating so I doubt I'll enter. Really want to start entering again even though I rarely score well.

Edit: This goes along with my comment on Facebook that I am not on here much.

Tiny, I dearly love you, too. Seriously! And Alice, always good to have you as a neighbor! :)

So I shall continue to irritate the voters, then. As long as all of the rest of you do as well. Those are my terms.
