From Above V was scheduled as Extended Editing in error and has been corrected to Standard Editing.

Apologies for the trouble!

My membership lapsed, but I've been waiting for a 'From Above' challenge, so I may have to pony up for this one.

I may be missing something, but in the past there used to be rules on what tools may be used, if selections may be used before applying filters, etc. It doesn't say anything about that in the Standard Editing rules, and the Common rule set referenced in the Standard Editing rules doesn't say anything about that either. Maybe it was mentioned in the discussion when the rules where implemented, but is there some place where I can look them up?

That was for the old Basic Editing, which no longer exists, but which was a tool-based editing set. The tools have been evolving so fast and so far that it was no longer reasonable to specify which ones could be used and which couldn't, basically. The old Advanced Editing (and the current iteration of it, Standard Editing) was always results-based, and it has been liberalized dramatically. The "major elements" rule for cloning is gone, as just one example. We've tried to minimize gray areas where legal/not legal were subject to the interpretations of Site Council.

And to add to this, if you have any doubts about the legality of your edit, contact SC before submitting. We now have a 2-week submission period so there's plenty of time. Just don't leave legality question to the last minute :)
