take an image and process it as an Everfilter like picture.
It is actually very popular in Japan.
Everfilter is an app. for smartphone, but the same result can be achieved using your own editing software.

But who will supply the sunglasses required for viewing?

Ugh - no thanks.

Well one less challenge for me to look at and vote on if it gets scheduled.

So, basically, you're proposing a "Garish HDR" challenge?

The Everfilter effect is the Japanese Manga cartoon style of strong outlines, and very bright skies with ultra white clouds.
I was thinking of getting real professional photographers here at DPC to take the challenge of this new trend in photography (In Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and many other Asian countries)
Some examples:

Thanks for posting the examples, Georges. I want to try it, looks like fun. I'll go get the filter app. If nothing else, it'd be fun in a side challenge.

No, not garish.

Alas, Everfilter announced that due to a copyright complaint the app is no longer in the App Store or Google play.

What?

It may not work with a challenge here, it seems to add its own clouds to the sky. Plus, it seems to have other issues.

So I guess the "challenge" has become:

"Create a Ps action that uses the native Ps filters to achieve the Everfilter effect, and use it on your challenge image."

Frankly, I actually like the effect, though I imagine that it will work much better with some subjects than others, and it might get old pretty quick.

I think it would be very effective for book illustrations -- has that pastel/watercolor look which can make an actual place appear fictional.

I'm sure it involves Adjustment Layers in addition to any filters.

Yes! Probably partly the reason it is calls forth comparisons to Manga illustrations.

No doubt. Every scene is likely going to need a little manual tweaking. Thinking that an action can put the basic structure in place, and the user will need to tweak settings.
