Well, some of you know me some don't so I'll keep this short.

I have (and still am) been through depression and anxiety and I am undergoing treatment, etc etc.

Anyway, long story short, lost my passion now trying to rebuild myself mentally so I am back as a full member, hope I can honour it.

I'm not the kind of guy to bang on about stuff but 2016 has not been kind to me.

On the positive side, 2016 set the bar so low that there's an excellent chance 2017 will be better.

Welcome back!

Good to see you back, Marac. I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. However, you definitely HAVE been missed, and here's hoping 2017 proves to be a year of strengthening for you :-)

I know a bunch about depression. I'm so thankful that you're getting help. That's the part that's hard to figure out... that you need help... that you can't do it on your own. It's a physical problem... like the flu.

I'm so glad you're back and shooting!

Welcome Home, Marac.

More people than you realize deal with those same issues. So happy to hear you're coming out of it. We're here, ready to provide inspiration and support, and hoping you find your mojo!

It seems that 2016 hasn't been the most uplifting for a lot of folks; you aren't alone in your thoughts of saying good riddance. I wish nothing but the best for you in 2017 Marac, hope things turn around in your favour. Getting back into photography may be just the ticket! Take care.

You're images regularly end up in my favourites eg:

so I'm glad you are back.

I hope realising what you do here (& elsewhere) inspires people from different parts of the world, and may assist you in journey.

Thank you so much.
I do understand I'm not alone in this, I feel for the others who are also suffering.

The hardest part is seeking help and reaching out.

I am also a musician so that has helped me a lot. Growing up as a young boy I left home at 14 (fourteen) and lived in a garage (parking garage) because of issues at home and trying to get along with my family... I had a small guitar I carried everywhere and was truly a salvation then as it is today.

I am fortunate to also have a wonderful Wife who is supportive and understanding so I am very lucky.

So now I will try to be a better part of this community too that I have been a member of for over 10 years (good lord!)

Thank you.

Happy that you back in the fold Marac. 2016 has been a tough year for everyone, however combining that with depression and anxiety can be overwhelming I am sure. For me, DPC is a safe house, so to speak, and where I turn to when I need a lift or just some time without the world's pressures on me. Hopefully 2017 will be kind to you.

Some of us don't suffer.....we revel in it! (That'd be the nuts part, not the misery.)

Seriously, it's often hard to be a right-brain person in a left-brain world.

Bear in mind that if you're honest with yourself and someone who can genuinely help, it isn't always a "professional". The mental health community/industry/world has to operate within set parameters, i.e., slotting people into categories/syndromes/labels. Unfortunately, us right-brain people don't always fit into neat slots so often we aren't tended to properly. It's best to work with someone who understands that before they can help you, they need to get to know and understand YOU.

Both my GF and I deal with anxiety, depression, frustration, anger, insecurity, and other meanderings down desolate paths that come with our fragile, creative psyches. We have become each other's best comfort in that not only does our unconditional love support and heal, but sometimes just sitting quietly in the same room being THERE makes all the difference.

Point being......you know who and what you need more than anyone, so be strong in having your needs addressed in the manner you need.

Music is good......

Having someone who understands and doesn't add to the burden is a true gift.

It's not a comparator......just be here, you don't have to be better.

Welcome back.

Marac, depression also runs deep in my family, and I've often stared into that abyss, alone. So far, somehow, I have always managed to pull myself back without professional help - or personal help for that matter. Been taking stock recently and now have a very clear idea as to what doesn't work for me....and what does. Photography definitely works for me, not against me. We all know you have tremendous talent, so hope you stay around!
