Is it time to go mirrorless?

My Canon 7D just had the shutter replaced. Should I sell it now and go mirrorless? I was going to get a smooth coated collie, but should I get a camera instead?

If so, which one?

Sony A7 with an adapter so you can use your existing lenses. or a Dog, the Dog will last longer

I'm not sure that mirrorless is best for the kind of photography you do. I've got both and I'm moving back to using the 7D more than the mirrorless. Stick with Canon and get the dog.

I ran our dog over so its RIP. so Maybe I'll get the dog and sell you my camera as it doesn't take that flash a photo as judged by recent results.!!!

Apart from border collies, all collies I've ever met have approx 2 brain cells. Get the camera.

If a primary interest is still shooting birds and other wildlife, none of the mirrorless cameras with which I am familiar are as good for that as a dSLR, so be careful. For general walkaround and studio work, the Sony a7 series are fantastic, and as noted earlier you can buy an adaptor and mount all your canon lenses to them. My family owned a smooth coated collie and a rough one, and both were dumb, if sweet, dogs. Forget the dog, get a Sony body, and work forward from there :-)

That's what I was wondering. But what about the 6500? Great fps, cropped sensor so still have the reach, sounds like a good option?

Rescues make me nervous with the two cats. The collies I've known were sweet and gentle and wanted to stay with the people (sheep) one was extremely bright, the other was, ummm.... Well... Max. I miss max. :(

Was looking since Oct, and it took 4 months for the breeder to finally me no. (After 3, she still hadn't decided which one she was going to keep. Then a month later told me the boy was spoken for, but I could have a girl that had tendon problems that could be worked with and fixed.)

Having a hard time finding a smooth collie.

And no, art, that's not the dog. That's the thing that rules the household!

Actually I found the samples very unexciting, especially the birds. Could be the lens.

Posted this for the overview of the camera.
I don't think I'd use YouTube to consider still image quality.

I've had dogs all my life, but I find at 61, I'm actually looking forward to a pet-free existence. No feeding, vet trips, or the constant struggle to figure out what to do if you have to pick up and go at a moment's notice.

Get the camera!
