Where in the world did this challenge suggestion come from?! The secret SC vault? I did a search for the word 'anatopism' and it doesn't show up anywhere on DPC until now as a new challenge.

One of the longest challenge descriptions I've ever seen. So ... enter a photo of something that is out of place basically - yes?

With modern time travel, one sometimes experiences geographical displacement of rare things. The spin of the earth is a variable often miscalculated due to the wobble on its axis.

Ah-HA! Now I know how you found this - it was time travel. ... or was it a parallel universe?

Under Einstein's theory of general relativity, gravity can bend time. But for the purpose of this challenge, I prefer to think a glimpse into a parallel universe would better meet the challenge.

Well, if you happened upon the correct parallel universe that fella could be obtainable while perusing the MINIMAL EDITING universe because it already exists.

The parallel universe theory is basically scientists engaging in a pleasant form of science fiction. Sometimes they will pretend that they are discussing real science, but they aren’t. Similarly, some magicians will claim they are doing true magic, rather than just tricks.

That said, we have been tasked with fulfilling an "Anatopism" challenge. At the very least, this will require luck and imagination. Maybe a little magic. Under standard editing ruleset, it will be a neat trick. I have a few ideas. We do see unusual juxtapositions in Colorado. And, that is above and beyond the legal marijuana influence.

You guys are nattering about TIME MACHINES. Those would produce ANACHRONISMS. We all know what those are, right? Anachronism would be like someone with a Colt 45 revolver dueling Aaron Burr. Let's focus on how weird the concept of ANATOPISM is: it's about something that's totally in a place where it doesn't belong. It's not that difficult to come up with solutions to this challenge, and it's gonna be fun to vote on :-) How about parking a car on a tennis court? How about a scuba diver wielding a golf club? Got an extra, unplumbed toilet in the garage? Why not put it at the dining table?

Let yourselves go!

So, if I find a container of shoe polish in my clothes drier, does that count? (Actually happened.)

Oh Golly!!

I don't fit in my world... so... do I now fit?

I don't understand this topic.

I wish I were smart.

(and gorgeous)

c'mon... it's as simple as Sesame Street...

One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn't belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?
