As I am sure everyone has witnessed the number of votes for a challenge is getting quite low.

I don't follow stats so perhaps it has been this bad for some time.

I am curious as to the lowest number of votes people would feel it was worth entering a challenge for?

I had 39 votes in the "Bite me" challenge - that is really low. I think 30 would be my cut off point but I would hate to think of not entering challenges.

As you can see, all the numbers are getting smaller. But Don is right, since we're talking whole numbers here, one is the lowest. The question then would be whether it's from a participant or not?

on the challenge,
Submissions: 41
Disqualifications: 0
Votes: 1,666
Comments: 63

on your image,
39 votes
Participants 21
Non-Participants 18

Edit to add... the only way I can think of to keep the numbers up is to keep at it. I still enter, vote and comment. If everybody who wants more gives more, the numbers will be higher.

I think it's a mistake to look at it purely as numbers; it should be looked at as a percent of entrants or as a percent of active membership.

That said, more participation is always encouraged. When we get resentful, we become part of the problem. The more we participate, the more we encourage others to do so.

I have asked myself a similar but slightly different question but I think the answer I keep coming back to is relevant to your question about it being "worth it". I am routinely disappointed with my scores but then I remember the real reason I do it is the creative challenge. It forces me to think differently and look at things differently. In fact, as I write this I'm wondering if my scores are low because I'm not pushing myself to be more creative with my shots. In any case... I hope you keep submitting!

By the way... I submitted one for the "Bite Me" challenge as well.
