Meh.

If people can figure out how to use their cellphone camera, they can figure out how to use a DSLR in auto mode :)

It seems to me that there's a whole segment of the population that can't tell the difference between a snapshot and a good image so the image quality thing isn't going to sell it.

And from what I see happening with these damn cell phones and how they can score, what would be the point?

ETA: Crap! Do I sound like some cranky old fart???

But there's a lot to be said for someone going through my photos besides me and picking the best ones. I'd love that! :)

I disagree. There isn't. Pointing a camera at a subject when you're oblivious to or uncertain about the consequences is what makes interesting photographs. It's the only thing. Knowing the outcome of what you're doing before you do it just sentences you to eternal mediocrity. Pretty soon you'll be posting Francesca Woodman pictures in the forums and asking, "How do I get this look?" Answer: You have to kill yourself. Try faking that.

I agree and disagree with both ideas. Point and shoot is not all, first you have to have a seeing eye.

At $1 per image the cost could add up pretty fast.

thanks for the Francesca Woodman reference.

and for sure I'll keep poking my camera in unwonted/unwanted places, without malice aforethought.
