When I got my D810, I was amazed at how much space the files took up.

That's how I deal on vacation......dump 'em into the laptop.

I thought about this but I don't know if I will be able to bring it due to lack of space. It is VERY expensive to bring another bag so we are going to try and pack everything within a very limited amount of space.

If we have the room, I will for sure do this as it seems to be the easiest way to keep myself from spending so much on memory cards.

Have you got any photographer friends who could lend you cards for the duration of your trip? The 850 is going to be hungry for memory, and you are going to regret bitterly running out.

I don't have many photographer friends that are local. But I do have a couple. :) I didn't think of asking them. Thanks for the tip on that one. I will send them a text now. :)

There used to be devices which were basically a hard-drive/card reader combination just for this purpose ...

Reliable?

Last thing I need is to get home to find that none of the images were actually put onto the hard-drive. Lol.

I will have to look when I get home at what I have for my D810.

I believe I have at least one 64GB card that *should* work you can borrow.

When do you leave?

March but don't worry about it. I just heard from my ex-roommate that he has like 3 cards I can borrow for the trip. He's a videographer so he has a ton of equipment. :)

Okay....

I am pretty sure I do have a fairly fast 64GB SDHC card if you want it, though....

I'll keep it in mind! I don't know how fast his cards are but I assume they'd be fast enough given the fact that he's a videographer. If however they aren't very fast I may take you up on the offer.

Awesome Marko!
Hope you get to see some auroras, it is prime time for them, right around the equinox.
