I'm considering the topic, and asking the informed to please weigh in.

1) This requires a non-native app. I'm not likely to edit in the phone. Experienced suggestions?

2) The files types are said to be *.dng and/or *.tiff. Should (or can) I use ACR (I have CS3)?

3) I certainly can email an image to myself, but Win 10 supports "import" from iPhone. I will submit a request for JPEG validation. Have these imports been validated? Has any user submitted a RAW image for validation?

Tell us what the topic is a little more concisely and I'll fix the thread title.

If you are talking about submitting cell-phone images to DPC as unaltered originals, we have experience at that now. The two safest ways are ti MAIL the image to yourself and open it on the main computer, OR to hook the phone up to the computer as a drive and drag-drop the files to the folder of your choice, which is what works swimmingly for me.

Stay away from Win10 "Imports" from phone for DPC purposes, because that does alter the EXIF. IF you keep all the originals on your phone until the need for validation has passed, you'd even be OK that way, but you'd still need to upload that original by drag 'n drop, or by e-mailing to yourself.

I'm not sure but I think that what Steve is asking is that with the 7+ iPhone and up the camera/phone has the capability to shoot in "RAW"...I haven't been asked for validation since I got my 7+ but I'm curious too.

I did use one of my iPhone pictures recently...maybe you can ck the file and let us know???

I'd be shocked if someone hasn't. If the RAW format is DNG (I know it is on my Android 'phone), then you'll need to treat it for validation purposes as if it were a JPEG. That means being very careful that it is not modified, which means, as Robert stated, no Win10 imports. In general, don't use *any* third party software or OS to move originals. As far as editing, I've had good results with the .DNGs from my Galaxy in Lightroom. I've also opened them directly with Ps CC using ACR.

I've settled on Lightroom Mobile as the app to take the photo and generate the RAW file. The file format is .dng. The file sizes are about 13MB from my iPhone SE, 4032x3024px.

I did have to install the Adobe DNG converter on my PC, then set its emulation for ACR v.4.6 to work with PS CS3.

I'll attempt to verify validation after I work with a few images...

Thanks for your replies.
