In the late 50s & early 60s I can remember my parents and their friends having 'slide nights'. This was basically everyone gathering around in someone's living room indulging in snacks & drinks watching slides of their vacation from which they had just returned. This was very exciting for a 6 year old as I got to view far away exotic locations while experiencing a 'grown-ups' party. By the time I was old enough to have travel adventures of my own slide nights (and slides) had long been passe and my groovy polaroids were quickly sentenced to life in a shoe-box on the top shelf of the storage cupboard.

Roll the clock forward and as some of you know Deb & I retired 4 years ago and have spent that time RVing around mainly Europe, Asia & Australia. Now the travel adventure has come to an end and it is time to put down roots again. Next week we arrive back in Sydney where we will spend the next 2 weeks relocating to the Gold Coast and staying put (hopefully) until full-time is called. That's not to say we won't be travelling anymore but we don't expect them to be more than a few weeks at any one time.

We naturally have had a wonderful time and a great part of it was the photography......inspired, taught, mentored by all of you. As well as aiding me in taking the photos you have all been unwilling participants in my slide night as I have presented you (via the challenges) with my awkward, over processed attempts at the travel genre. Thanks for all the votes, comments and most of all for coming.

I have somehow managed to NOT be aware of you here other than appreciating the occasional work. This post got me to go look at your port.

As to your "awkward, over processed attempts" I say "Horseshit!"

Your travelogue images are spectacular!

I'll be back to look at more later.

Thanks!

Well, Michael, that's gonna be a real change :-) Penny and I have enjoyed every minute of the journey, and we look forward to your Australia coverage when it resumes :-)

Look through Michael's portfolio and his challenge entries; he and Deb have been on the road for 4+ years, so we've been able to "follow" him everywhere since he kept posting and submitting from wherever they were :-)

Thanks Robert. I thought that Michael made an album of these. The Mother and Fish was to crown them all. Wonderful stuff from an amazing adventure
