Okay, so it's been almost 2 years since I've entered a challenge or really shot at all. Too many things happened in that time to explain it all, but I'm coming back to photography (and this site) and am looking to upgrade my dinosaur of a camera in my D200... Budget is a huge issue, which is around $1000... So with that said, I was looking at the D7200... Kinda seems like it would be a great fit, but I've been out of the game for so long, are there any features that I'm missing out on? Is the D7500 worth the extra cash? And... I can't afford to go full frame as all my lenses are DX lenses, so that kinda narrows my selection. I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing out on anything before pulling the trigger... Any and all advice welcome and thanks in advance!

another returning member has just purchased this Nikon model and is very happy with his decision.. was thinking of upgrading my Sony A550,but dont think that would work as the A550 has all the features I need .

Go with the D7200. D7500 has been a sort of downgrade, I would never buy it.

For a wee bit more get the D500...that’s my next step.

Thanks guys for the advice... Looks like its going to be the D7200 for me... The problem with the D500 for me is that the body is $1800... Whereas I can get the D7200 for $800... so that's kinda the sticking point for me...

Upgrading is overrated. I haven't used my Canon 50D in a long time. Usually using a micro 4/3 or Canon G7x compact these days.

Lenses hold their value better - maybe invest in a 2.8 zoom of your liking? Could still get that and a used D300s or D7200 for around a grand total.

I think tate is right, use your money for some good glass in stead of spending it on a D500 over a D7200. I’m thinking of buying a second camera (for wildlife) and I think I’ll go for the D7200 as well (as Alekc says, the D7500 seems a bit of a downgrade). You may consider buying your gear as used equipment, saves you some money as well.

Hey thanks for the advice guys... Those are excellent points about glass...
