Is anyone still using the original canon 6D ? It is now at a ridiculously low price but is it worth it as a second body ( for a full frame user) or as a step into full frame for a crop user ? It received a lot of bad press but a lot of people seem to swear by it as well.
Any thoughts ?

I don't know much about the 6D but these older Full Frame cameras are fantastic value now for an entry into FF or as a second body. I'm currently using the older 5D2 alongside the 5D3 for weddings and I really like it. It's the camera I take out with me as a walk around. I'll probably get another 5D3 to work alongside the other for work but i'll still use the 5D2. In terms of image quality there is not much in it and I assume that's the same for the 6D. If you know their limitations in regards to newer cameras, and are happy to work with them, then they are still fantastic cameras.

I still have a 6D as a back-up to the 5D IV. The files out of the 6D still hold up really well, particularly given that the 6D was introduced almost 6 years ago. Great sensor, especially for that timeframe. The weakest point of the 6D, IMO, is the AF system. Center AF point is really dependable, and AF is possible in very low light, though not as good as 5D IV. If you aren't into the type of photography that demands a high-end AF subsystem, then the original 6D is an incredibly economical introduction to FF.

I have same, 5D Mark IV primary and 6D as back. I still believe that 6D did some amazing work and really had great time with that.

Yes, I think it's the AF that really starts to show its age in these older cameras. Image quality is not hugely different - maybe a bit better dynamic range and high ISO on the newer cameras. I believe the 6D has a bit better AF than the 5D2 though. I find the 5D2 ok for what I do with it and i'm happy to stick to the centre point all the time.
