Anyone either upgraded or interested Nik Collection 2018?

I guess the question is: Is there anything there to upgrade to for users who already have a Nik collection license from Nik/Google.

I don't see 1) any mention of improvements worth paying for and 2) any upgrade pricing for prior Nik users.

I see some people on the forum have had problems with PSCC but I have to say that I've had no issues whatsoever with Nik so far. I just reinstall from the download each time I upgrade PS or LR. I'll wait to buy the DXO version until there's some new functionality, but kudos to DXO for picking up one of the best editing products out there.

There's a link in this thread with an announcement from DxO. The announcement talks about some of the work that they have done updating the suite for stability and compatibility. Whether it's a good value proposition to update something you already have, I dunno. As I stated in that thread, I'm a little old school, so I really have no interest in it personally.

OK folks so has anybody upgraded? I have issues with the PS plugin where sometimes if I don't follow the exact workflow the way they want me to it shuts down and I lose all my work. i can work around it, but is the upgrade worth it?

I did. When it was on special price (EURO49)

Running it on iMac 27', i5, 24G RAM, on LR&PS CC.

Smooth and nice.

Before it would crash if set to apply the filter as a layer in PS. Fixed with this version.

Cheers

I think this is what is addressed with the new version...

I didn't do, mine is still same original Google version and so far all work fine with the PSCC 2018.

From what I understand they have only sorted out the crashing issue with sierra and/or photoshop.

I simply copy layer in photoshop just before i apply the filter (same layer) and it does the same job. In my opinion, it's not worth paying out until they actually get off their ass and do something with the package that is worth paying for.

I'm still using the free version (with PS CS5). I've recently started doing all my Nik edits on Smart objects. It does crash occasionally, but not very often. Of course that may be because my computer is quite old because it gives problems with other programs too.

I have purchased the updated version of Nik and run it with Photoshop CC 2018, and I have problems regularly. I select a Nik filter within PS and often it will load up Nik with a blank screen (no image, not menu items). Sometimes canceling/closing Nik and retrying gets things working again. Sometimes I have to close down PS and reload everything to get it to work. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Nik, but that doesn't correct the issue. It is super annoying. If anyone has suggestion to get around the issue I would love to hear them.

I remember I had similar issue with accessing NIK via Filter menu item and not via plug-in with-in PS

Seems to be that I should wait till they have a desperate “¼ price sale” as no one is upgrading - or as you say make an actual change that matters. I for one would love to see some new presets, easier application of multiple edits, and a UI upgrade to make it look like something made in the last 5 years
