I think this sounds VERY fishy. I wouldn't do any transactions with this person unless it was through a valid platform like PayPal or something like that.

it's a scam.

One of those scams where they send an overpayment that isn't good (but you don't find out until later) and then request the "refund" in return from you???

What bothers me is that these scammers have enough gullible people cooperating with them to continue making a living at this... Thankfully you saw through it.

It's an unfortunate truth that a half an hour of English training could probably double this guy's 'business'.

Is it just me, or do you think that if the Nigerians put as much time and effort into legitimate business ventures as they do on scams, they'd have one hell of a booming economy?

This is indeed a scam and a story was run on CNN not too long ago about these overpayment type scams. I've had a similar e-mail sent to me from Ireland about a Racecar I have for sale. The "would-be buyer" has a Cashiers Check for $6000 more than I want for the car. I forwarded the e-mail to the FBI.

They're probably not nigerians.

And do not thrust a grown adult who sends you an email without including their full name. (Only applies if you don't know the person.

Yes a lot of them originate in Nigeria. They have tried running these scams with horses as well, list your horse for sale on an internet website and wham 99% of the responses are along these lines, they send too much money and ask for it to be paid to the shipper and when it turns sour you end up being responsible for refunding the full amount after having sent the excess money with no recourse.

I doubt they call these Nigerian Scams because they originate in Iowa, or somewhere...

I don't thrust americans. I mean you do make russian salad even though its named russian. "nigerians" could be just a name or cover up for it.

Maybe I should stop reading conspiracy magazins...

I just got one of these only not as sophisticated. Mine was just a I like your products, what would be the shipping to Nigeria and what are the costs. Now darnit, if you like them so much, at least tell me which ones you like, how many you want and send it to my business email and not my personal! Dorks!

Mr. Freed if you met a Nigerian today, would you prejudge him/her because of the actions of a band of criminals from Nigeria?

No, I'd just be prejudiced against those who have a hobby of ripping people off. And like it or not, there seems to be an influx of them who happen to be from Nigeria. It's not my imagination that cooks these things up, it's just a fact.

Scamming is reputedly (no way to really judge) the 3rd largest industry in Nigeria and Ghana. Would I be prejudiced against a Nigerian just for being Nigerian - chances are yes. It's not "fair" and it's not "right" but hell, I want nothing to do with anyone from that country.

I think Nigeria is outsourcing to Pakistan now.

because thats where all the Nigerian scams come from. Nigeria is famous for scams, they have been trying to scam people all over the world, even before the internet. Once the internet took off the scams became more frequent and more of them.

and in the early years of the internet MANY people were scammed because they beleived it to be true since they got it in an email.

someone posted a link for google search on the Nigerian scams. It might shed some light on how bad it is if you read a few of those links.

I would email them back and ask about the pay pal thing, also too I would ask where they found that you are an artist.

just because I would want to know
