there will be blood 9/10

If they had cut out a few of the longer panning shots it would have been a little better. Daniel Day-Lewis kicked the crap out of his role. Amazing job, totally oscar worthy. Beautiful too. I wish it had been shown in more places...

I just saw "In Bruges" and absolutely loved it. It's very dark and bloody, but has the funniest dialogue of any movie I've seen in a very long time. A solid 9/10.

Juno 8/10

Story line that could very much be real life for the most part. Some very funny parts as well.

On DVD: Eastern Promises - my second time through this film as I had seen it in theatres last fall. Excellent movie, with great acting, and strong plot. 8/10 from me.

In Theatre: There Will Be Blood - Daniel Day Lewis is outstanding, as it the actor who plays opposite him as a preacher. The plot is a little slow at times, but I dont mind that at all. The acting is very strong, and DDL deserves the best actor nod for this performance. 9/10.

Good to see this thread resurrected :)

300-7/10

This movie is great apart from every time they try to bring in an element other than warfare eg: the queen's speech, the corruption bits, the council men (why are they always scaly and inbred?). All these bits slow the pace of the movie right down, but I timed that without these bits, the movie would only be 50 minutes long.

Still a brilliant movie in terms of it's production and acting in the fight scenes, just a few too many added on bits.

At the Theater ~ The Business of Being Born 8/10 a documentary about the horrible shape the US's medical establishment is in when it comes to giving birth, especially compared to other 1st world countries. It’s a bit low budget, but very informative and emotional. As a disclaimer, I must admit some personal bias as both my kids were born at home with midwives instead of the typical American experience.

On DVD ~ King of California 8/10 a funny as hell, but moving comedy staring Michael Douglas and Evan Rachel Wood.

Funny Face 8/10

Well it was Valentines day, but I still managed to sneak in a photo-related movie...

Also recently watched Factory Girl. 5/10 Was 'okay' and decidedly unnerving at times. But mostly banal.

cloverfield: 8/10

About time someone made a decent monster movie and here it is! As testament to it's quality every guy came out the theatre and immediately looked up around the city buildings just to check for big monsters.
