Cloverfield........ 2/10

wow glad I did not wast 10 bucks in the movies.....
friend of mine had the dvd so I watched and the free hand camera was annoying and the way it went off...... what the????

how the heck and what the heck is it or where did it come from?

This is exactly why I paid the $12 to see it in the theater. I knew if I waited until I saw it at home, the "drunken uncle's home video" feel of the free hand camera would irritate me. When surrounded by the film in a dark movie theater, I felt as if I were a member of the cast, or a bystander in the street. I found myself ducking and leaning a couple of times throughout the movie...it was way more realistic.

The Internet Movie Database (imdb.com) page for Clover field has a lot of explainations which tell any part of the story you are unclear about after watching it. After reading that page, I wanted to go back to the theater and shell out another $12 to see it again and look for the things I missed.

Balls of Fury - 7/10

Very funny, but lack the great comedic actors to make hilarious

vantage point,
first hour is boring because you watch the same ten minute session about 6 or 7 times through different views, but the last was action packed totally awsome, but not many people seen that hense they left after seeing the same thing for the 4th or 5th time

6/10 cool to see the different points of view through the same scene in a movie but it got old quick

Downfall - 8/10
Only one of maybe 3 subtitled movies I've ever enjoyed ("It's a Beautiful Life" was another).
Downfall is a docudrama I guess, about Hitler and his inner circle and their last days in the bunker. Based on the account of his secretary who survived until recently. Wasn't as enteraining as it was intriguing, but that should be obvious I guess.

Spoiler: Hitler dies

I saw this at the weekend too. I wouldn't give it 10/10, probably 7/10, but it did make me giggle a bit.

BRILLIANT. Pay no attention to any bad reviews. I nearly did and would have missed this absolute gem. Directed by David Schwimmer, written by Michael Ian Black and Simon Pegg (my comedy god). It is sweet, funny, silly, tender-hearted, a wee bit gross, and just hilarious. I seriously laughed nearly the whole way through. I do love my English comedians though.

Half a dozen of fims "cinema under contruction" cine en construccion. A move by two European film festivals to help complete and promote South American films (mostly spanish speaking) under budged constraints. Some of them realy worthed it.

On dvd, Venus ... 7/10

Last three films I've seen;

Juno 8/10 - Funny and enjoyable. One of these films that draws you in right until the end, when you realise how much you felt for the lead character (who was brilliantly acted)

Bridge to Terabithia 4/10 - I was so disappointed. You know when you see a trailer and read the reviews and go into the cinema with such high expectations? For me this was a total let-down. The predictable, sickly sweet and nauseatingly sentimental plot made me want to throw up into my popcorn box.

Horton Hears a Who 7/10 - Loved it! A philosophical look at the world.

The Guardian 8/10

Always love Costner.......have trouble getting past the Kelso thing with Ashton Kutcher, but he did a decent job.

NOT being much of a zombie movie fan (just seems to easy to run away, lol) i gave George Romeros "diary of the dead" an 8/10. very creepy - this handheld type movie was wayyy easier to watch than "cloverfield" which i gave a 7/10 because it was too tuff to watch for me...but the monsters were cool, lol

Iron Man 8/10

very good awesome movie, loved the suit and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man was perfect... loved how they explained everything also loved the begining that was a big surprise to me. Would have given it a 10 but the end could have been a little better.

Iron Man - 7.5/10 - It's a good flick with lots of action, explosions, special effects and fun stuff like that. Robert Downey Jr. is really, really good (With all the drug busts and rehab business in his life, it's easy to forget just how talented he really is.). Gwyneth Paltrow is stunning as a redhead.

However, underneath it all, it's just another formulaic comic book conversion.

Young@Heart 10/10

The best movie I've seen in a long time! Had me laughing tears and crying tears. Quite inspirational indeed!

Deception 2/10

This movie was trying to be Derailed which starred Clive Owen & Jennifer Anniston. Except, it had no chemistry between ANY of the actors, the lighting was harsh, it made even Hugh Jackman appear unnatractive (hard to believe, but true) and the story line seemed to skip entire sections. So, you were left going "wait, how did they just get there??" and I probably rolled my eyes about 60 times with each cliche line or scene it threw at the audience. It was a bummer !!!

1941. 6/10. Comedy about December 1941. There were quite a few gut buster lines or scenes, but they were a little too infrequent for me to rate this movie very high.

Into the Wild. 9/10. Very good movie. My wife loves John Krakauer, although she hadn't read this book. I thought it was a very interesting story that follows a young man's spiritual/philosophical journey into the wild after graduating college. I did not realize until the end that it was a true story. I'll have to get the book for my wife and see how many of the side characters and experiences actually happened.

I really liked it, but it wasn't amazing! It was funny, fun and had a nice ending :)

For those of you who like Iron Man, you may want to take a look at Jeff Bridges website jeffbridges. I'm a fan of Jeff Bridges the actor, now I'm becoming a fan of Jeff Bridges the photographer!

Idiocracy 9/10

Very strange comedy that really caught me off guard. When I watched it, it was sorta dumb, but I can't stop laughing. (Inside joke for those of you that saw the movie: ....like from a toilet?)

27 Dresses; 7.5/10
PG-13

Romantic comedy; cute, sweet, predictable, but fun. Some language and sexual innuendos.

I liked it a lot but don't expect rocket science...just a cute, romantic comedy good for a date night or something.

No Country for Old Men

8

Not what I expected. Not a typical hollywood ending for sure. Nice change.
Minimum dialog and generally slow paced but contains many intense moments.
This movie was rated R probably for graphic violence (shooting).
