Deep Water Horizon
Good-action scenes
Good-story line
Good-Based around actual events (kept it interesting)
Bad-a bit slow moving in some parts

The Wrestler (2008) - 10/10 I don't give many 10s to movies. Wizard of Oz is a 10. Cabaret is a 10. And now, this. If you just want escapism, this isn't the movie for you. |

The Accountant - 7/10
Not a fan of Ben Affleck, but this movie had an interesting plot and the story moved along fairly well with a moderately predictable twist at the end and the action was pretty good. Overall about as entertaining as I expected. |

Manchester by the sea 5/10
We watched this movie because a friend of ours likes to watch all the best picture nominees. This is the kind of movie critics love and the average movie watcher hates. So slow moving that it felt like you were actually living their life. Almost like the director didn't know what to cut out. Some people praised it for being real life, I just thought it was boring. Spoiler:And after enduring all of that nothing gets resolved in the end, pretty much ends like it starts.
ETA: 4 of the 6 people watching fell asleep during this movie. I only wish I could fall asleep during movies, then at least I would have gotten a good nap.

Hidden Figures and I give it a 10
I hated the sick feeling I had at the beginning and actually well into it that so much has not changed. But I was uplifted enough to cancel that out at the end, so I left amazed (I had no idea) and inspired and proud. |

I concur. And Marisa Tomei. |

Arrival - 6/10. OK, worthy, somewhat thoughtful but marred by some gratuitous plot compliance. Could do with being quite a bit longer to develop the most interesting elements.
The Girl on the Train - 5/10. Mostly dull, livens up in the end but if you are going to present a non-chronological story to audiences there is a need to have a stronger narrative/temporal hook |

Logan- my rating 7 out of 10.
I am aware that every critic loved it, and there were some "real" moments that are not usually found in Super hero comic book movies.
However, a movie about once courageous Super heroes dying, slowly on screen, was a seriously depressing adventure, rather than what would be expected.
In essence, what was good about it, was also bad about it. |

I thought it was a wonderful film and agree with your comments. Amazing women. | If you read the book, you'll see that the history was off. Specifically, pretty much every scene of the movie never happened. But historical movies are always like that, and I did like the points that it made.
Saying that Katherine Johnson ran across the campus every day and did her work in the toilet stall was insulting, in my opinion. That did not happen. It led to a good dramatic moment that made a great point, but it was fabricated. |

Thanks for that Don. Books do tend to be better than films in most cases. I don't think that it changes my opinion though, it was still an enjoyable film.

The book is well researched and seems accurate, but is actually rather poorly written and organized! So, in some ways the film was better than the book.... :) |

Logan was depressing as hell. I mean, seriously. Great acting, except for the fact that towards the end Jackman was so haggard he reminded me of Mel Gibson, and I don't like Mel Gibson.
Basically, to me, the moral of the story is if you have morals, it will do you no good in the end. Timely, I suppose, but still so very sad. (And they were still courageous, I thought, but with nothing really to be courageous FOR, except each other.) |

Why Him? - 3/10
I was in the mood for a comedy and was pretty disappointed in this even though I read some of the bad ratings and reviews. I like James Franco and I like Bryan Cranston, but there was no chemistry here (no pun intended) and the whole thing just left me groaning. A few entertaining moments here & there, hence my generous score. |

It Follows - 8/10
Excellent horror movie. Spare and chilling. It has some teen horror movie cliches (slaughter as punishment for sex) but is so relentless about them that it feels more like a satire of the cliches. The whole movie feels haunted.
The more I think about it, the more meaning I find in it, which could lead me to bump my score higher... |

Assassin's Creed - 6/10
Interesting plot, lots of action & special effects. Overall it met expectations without being annoying. (The bar is set pretty low these days) |

The girl with all the gifts. (AMAZON PRIME)- fantastic Zombie movie. With the feel of "Children of men"- but better. You will not be disappointed, fan of the genre or not. 9 out of 10.

I HAVE seen the movie: Love off the cuff, and it was about a couple who in love for 7 years and they broke up a lot.
