Ok, I wanted to create a pinstripe / inline border using an action but couldn't fine one anywhere and I couldn't find any instructions to automate it .... so I've worked out a routine and created an action to do it! It will create a 1px border the colour of your current foreground palette 10px from the edge. Note, this uses a layer so is only legal in advanced.

Example :

It's created in Photoshop CS3 and I've only tested it in that as that's all I have :)

The action also has a very basic add a 1px white then 2px black border to the edge of an image (the image will need to be 6px less than the final size you want, eg 634px or 714px).

Example :

Though I've used this border on most of my submissions!

Just download from here it to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Presets\Actions\ and go to the actions menu and load it :)

Feel free to modify it in any way you like but if you could send a new copy to me I can add it to this thread.

Enjoy
Robert

I would love to customize this action to have lots more white space on the edges (10 more pix at least) and maybe 20 pix at the bottom (white) to put my logo... I tried to duplicate and alter the action, but I can't find a way to duplicate it. I don't know much about actions, but I would love some advice! :) My goal is something like this:

I'm not sure about CS3 but in CS2 it is super easy. Just select all and then go to the edit drop down and click "stroke" then pick your color and border size and hit enter.
To get the pin stripe, use the rectangle tool, select where you want the stripe and same thing, pick color and size of stripe, hit enter, done.

To duplicate an action, highlight it and then from the tiny pull down menu from the top right of the layers pallet click copy

If you click the arrow on the action to open it out, with an image open you can double click the Canvas Size part of the action and it will pop up the dialog box and you can change the size of the border
