The DNMC police will be out in force on this one. Not how I'll vote. Just sayin.

Would a race car count as an automobile?

I guess a helicopter is DNMC. I wonder where I can find an autogiro?

Why wouldn't a helicopter count? It would in MY book, anyway... Autogiro would be way cool, though...

"Those aren't pillows!!"

On another note... it's a shame this challenge couldn't have fallen later. On May 5, I will be on a plane, train, automobile AND a cruise ship!

It's an aircraft, but not an airplane. Some people would interpret it very narrowly. I used that trick in the "where is it?" game in a local group on Flickr. I posted a photo of the Bell helicopter plant, showing the control tower, and one of my hints was "there are no airplanes here".

LOL That was hilarious. I think I may get a copy this weekend and enjoy it all over again.

also, if the challenge were "Helicopter" and someone submitted a photo of an aeroplane, I am sure they would get murdered.

Trucks?

I entered a pickup truck in the "old cars" challenge and nobody appears to have had issue with it. I think it is ok if it is something that would be a personal vehicle, like a pickup truck. An 18 wheeler could be iffy.

It never ceases to amaze me that we always feel the need to submit entries that are subject to interpretation. Doing so will almost always get you a lower score than if you stay safely within the boundaries. It doesn't matter how much you can back up or defend your entry; there will always be some people seeing it otherwise and voting it down.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles should give us plenty of safe latitude. Maybe I'm a little biased since the original suggestion came from me in April 2004! :)

Self explanatory.

I was first thinking 'airshow' to capture the best poster for an airshow but thought that not all of us have access to an airport or aviation events.

i had an idea about going to the airport and park my car so when the airplane is landing i'll be able to catch both but too bad its already been tried :(

just when i think i'm unique they shoot me down.

This is my first submission in a few months. I started sometime last year and the few challenges I entered my shots were pretty subpar. You folks are really good, and I'm humbled by the winners. My scores showed me I needed work and I wasn't interested in getting the weekly reminder of how not-good I was. I've been practicing the basics (lighting, dof, framing, etc), and figured it was time to try again with challenges. Here goes nothing.

Good luck everyone.

Good, sense prevails. You want to get good? Enter challenges and push the boundaries. Sure there will be sub par scores, boy I know that! But you will be surprised how quickly you improve and get dialled in. Go for it!

There is only one way to gain experience.

I don't know whether I am doing right.

I just pulled back my entry from this challenge. Some photo which I really liked, and now entering Stopped Motion.
