Well, in the past, I have had quite heated private messages from people who didn't agree with what I said in my comment!

im am curious, so i left a few harsh comments, i'll see if anyone responds.

lol, did i leave you one? btw i tried really hard to be harsh, some were, but its really out of character for me to be mean so i found that i ended up being just plain critical and harsh comments were really just masked sarcasm. i did leave some nice comments too.

If it was'nt for some of the comments I've received especially in the early days, I would've never grown as a photographer, and also continue to grow. Constructive criticism when given appropriately is hard at first, but then when you look back you can actually agree with the person who gave it to you. If you never get out of your comfort zone you will stagnate.

Humm did something wrong, addressing Mikes comment

Well, in the past, I have had quite heated private messages from people who didn't agree with what I said in my comment!
im am curious, so i left a few harsh comments, i'll see if anyone responds.
And my response is:
Alls I can say is you are intitled to your opinion! Not that I aggree with it, but... it's a free country and it would be really boreing if all DPC's thought alike. I feel if I enter a challenge I'd better have a tough skin cause I might not like what I see, BUT it's a comment... and I work for comments! LOL

I think you should be grateful you get comments, You only had a tiny few who were only slightly negative. But look at all the other nice comments you got.

IF only more people were grateful this world would be a nicer place :)

You've said that before. Now prove your point and go leave us all some comments.

Good idea ...

If your looking for a receptive audience, take a swing at mine. I can handle it : )

I also usually leave pretty critical comments, but if people respond, it's almost never negatively, and definitely not nasty. There really is a lot to be learned from critiquing the work of others. Once the personal element is removed, you can better see the techniques, elements, messages, etc, that you really enjoy (or hate) in a photograph, and so you can better know and understand what you want to do for the next photo you take yourself.

People would rather whine generically in a thread like this than take the time and responsibility to respond (whether in the comment thread or personally via PM) and try to explain their negative response.

People might remember that you can only learn from analyzing and correcting your "mistakes" -- you cannot progress by repeating what you already do well.

Certainly any reputable marketing research firm will pay as much if not more attention to negative comments than lauditory ones ... putting your picture up for evaluation by a worldwide audience is marketing research at its most fundamental level.

If your winning photo wasn't your own, I'm curious to know what comment you would have written that effectively meets a "helpful comment" criteria?

Please lead by example...;-)

LOL, but you have a group of loyal followers on DPC who love your work and follow it with interest.., if that's any consolation :-) !

Poor misled souls mistake me for an artist. I wouldn't trade them for any number of ribbons.

Careful, they will find you and ribbon you out of spite....

Whew! I was getting worried for a minute: I thought you said/wrote "adult" not "artist."

I didn't see any rubbish comments on your blue ribbon. I saw two people provide links to similar photographs. If my photograph looked like somebody else's, I would want to know about it.
