Thread seems to work. Even Simms cropped up. I'm working what's left of my arse off trying to pay the rent (carpentry), but I paid up a membership so as to access my pics. I may have a couple of brown ribbons in store for you yet.

Bear, how that made me smile, to be remembered :) It's been a long time, and I was never one of the "bright lights" here so it's lovely that I've not been totally forgotten. Then again, you're such a sweetheart that it doesn't surprise me from you.

What a nice grouping!! <3

Speaking of "Motley Crew" I was team captain of a team named that in one of the earlier DPL challenges in 2003. I think Roz was on my team. At that time she wasn't very good, just getting started. FocusPoint was on my team and/or on my "Yahoo Groups" Critique group. I remember a "30 days of photographing a Fork" side challenge with Bear_Music. I know all but 4-5 on this thread.

I see many members have a lot more Lenses! I also accumulated a lot of equipment, 3 "Quantum Q-Flash Trio "lighting, Quantum Batteries and Boom Pole stands. I also got into some DSLR Video with a field recorder and mikes. ...and I also got into a full AdobeRGB calibrated, colorspace from Camera-Monitor-Printer workflow. I have about 50 13x19 prints in albums to show clients.
I'm doing well health-wise.

I Tried to run a Photography Business and found out that there are many dishonest, unreliable, people out there. And that on going Marketing, Advertising, Social Presence, and Website are highly important, as are contracts. Creativity is nice, but making an income is important, too.

I went back to what I'm also good at... Last two years or so I retrained my brain in all kinds of internet Front-end / Back-end, Full-Stack, Hybrid PC/MAC, Website creation Languages.
If anyone has any question about the equipment usage or website creation, just ask me.

I do intend to get back into some DPC Challenges. I have take some great Creative Fine Art photos in Boston, Manhatten, South Lake Tahoe, and Myrtle Beach in the last 8 years.
I miss everyone. I'm sure someone remembers, me.
I remember all the great talent here.
The 300 entries in some challenges.
The great GTG's in Calgary Canada and Hocking Hills OH.
BTW, I use Alan Freed's photo of me on my business card.

Hey JH! Glad to hear you are doing well! Boy how time flies!

Just an FYI they still argue and start threads about the same old $h1T and the voters still seem disgruntled! ;-P

Edit: Grammar and stuff...

Hi! Back at ya.
I see that that "they" still edit for grammar and stuff too. ;)

Dude, long time ago, a misspell, get over it.

Seems, you still have a problem with my spelling of one word, so their are still ultra ego's here, that will-discredit anything some people say . A misspelling brings you to this thread. bohemka I am honoured, and so glad that you have chosen this mantel, and that you want to be a teacher and mentor. That is wonderful, it means that you still have some neurons sparking and want to make a difference at DPC.

I am thrilled that you still have that competitive spirit in you, and want to make a difference, and make a difference and spend so much time , teaching, listening, and assisting with the newer photographers here.

If I can be of any assistance to you, let me know, as I am as willing to spread whatever I know (which is limited) to those that want some insight.

I simply agreed with you. What's this all about?

It's gettin' harder and harder to put up with me, too, as I morph into a cranky old bag of aching bones :-) Heck, I even had to offload the Canons (even the beloved TS/E) and cop some kit I could actually CARRY without collapsing under the load :-)

My sausage roll, Simmsit has been a long , long time, miss your sarcasm about me! =P ~!!! And re-reading this thread, I still stand by what I wrote. So many old timers have left, and what is left, is 'what' is left, unless we can bring them back.

I am thrilled that some olders are still here to impart their wisdom and be teachers. And BEAR Huge cuddles to you! xoxoxoxo

I remember hundreds of votes at one point on some of my photos. but each year it dwindled. There was a lack of admin interest, the lack of hope in the members, just leaving, and they where truly amazing people who went on to great, glory to be the most famous in their world. .

I remember when the artistic photos in Advanced editing, where the most highly praised. Then we went into Excerpt. It went to a whole different level. A level that DPC, should have protected and had more rules and a fairer base than was allowed.

MY DPC, was about beginners, middle men and then people who knew more. BUT each level was willing to teach the other level. I Was taught by 4 of the best photographers , that where in DPC ,who ended up being the 1st World Photographers in the world.

Stop whining and ask the old timers for expert advice, suggestions , life experts, and open your mind.
be more humble when you do not know the answer, be polite,be respectful, . Judi is an older old timer than me on DPC, and she is an excellent photographer, if she says anything, take some other fabulous women., ,but she also has her own style,. Follow me, i have my own style, I learned after two years, studying under Manny, or Joey L , Joel Grimes., etc etc. But honestly it does not matter who are you connected, friends, asserts etc etc .

just stop blaming everyone else and what their rules are, follow the rules, and do what is your style. Do what is comfortable and what feels right to you and screw everyone else. Judi, Joel, Manny, Juliet do what they photograph, trust me, it all different styles.

Stop your friggin whining, and do you WHAT YOU do best and show the world your different styles, mostly as and cus you are all different in each of your styles , and that is what makes DPC different .

DO WHAT makes you happy. Otherwise, you will always follow the rules and be disappointed in what you do and never achieve what you think you should be. BE the biggest you can,.
