Ok -- starting to be able to see after the eye surgery, so trying to learn the camera some more.

Hot shoe flash
Ideas?
I have some Canon flashes and a Yongnuo flash, but it sounds like they will only work in manual mode. For the wedding reception I'm doing, I assume that the TTL would be extremely useful. (wouldn't it?) I haven't bothered putting a flash on the hotshoe for 5 years, so I'm not up on the best methods. I figured I was going to get one of the Gary Fong diffusers and stick it on a hot shoe flash to get reception photos.
I've been looking at options, but can't tell what the best bet is. Godox flashes were mentioned along with the sony flashes. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Also, I saw a video where the photographer set 2-3 strobes around the reception hall, on lightstands, high up, pointing downward, and then used the hot shoe flash to trigger those throughout the reception. This way his photos had lit backgrounds instead of the flash illuminating someone and then falling off quickly. It looked interesting. He claimed it didn't bother the guests since they were high up. Anyone try this type of thing? |
