Get yourself a press/media pass and ask the Airlines at check-in, for the Media Rate for your Pelican case. You'll have to pay, but not at the additional bag cost.

regarding Ja-9 request:
It dose not have a model number: its called the "Manfrotto Imagen More"
They sell it at "Best Buy"
I would not have bought it but I saw a guy in DC with one who let me use his and it was great for the money. It has the ball manfrotto type of socket. And it fits in a carry on. around 80$
Remember that is Manfrotto design but "made in china". Can send a pic if you would like!
Actually Art has it right. Guess I paid too much :-(
I checked out the GK1555T-82TQD... Yikes!!!!!!

Holy Hell - thats out of my league!!!

"6 or 12 Month financing available**"

I'm guessing Mariano is referring to this one, which doesn't require a second mortgage.

Regarding the tripod. I like so many others have a closet full of cheap tripods that are , well worthless. I fumbled on this compact action tripod that is quite affordable and can fit in any carry-on. Of coarse it's designed in Italy, but made in...China. LOL! But its a great little, sturdy tripod. I got in Best Buy. around 80 bucks or so.

I hate flying. I hate "trusting my luggage" to the airline "check-in". Especially when traveling abroad and changing flights. Long waiting anxiously waiting for your suitcase to pop out, if it ever dose (thats another story). That is why I only travel with "carry on". I finally found a good quality full size and affordable Manfrotto tripod that fits in my carry on. (this tripod is so good , that also is another story).
The point is : What does anybody know out there about the rumor that tripods are considered a weapon and must be checked in??!! The horror!!
A SLR camera with a lens can weigh over a kilo (2.2lb). Whats next ? our photo gear too??!!
