Some say that photography is not art. Yours is a perfect example of the blending of 2 art forms. Thank you for the description.

As promised, here is my making of the Time Machine

Strongly inspired by Star Trek' Transporter, so not really my idea.
I first drew a quick sketch of what I had in mind. First thing to start was finding a large enough plastic jar for the actual time capsule.
cutting this was pretty easy and without much effort I already had something to start with.

I used glue to stick a cover of a little yoghurt pot and another one from a candle cap.

turning upside down and using a flashlight to see how the beam would pass this.

Next thing was to build the console desks. pretty easy, too. just a thin plate of wood with a printed picture. made it modern looking with only one wooden stick. Covered it with tinfoil and the under-laying glue gave me a chance to scrape some pattern in it.

Cutout a metal baking plate and rolled it up to have 2 cylinders for the electric poles.

Time to complete the setup.
Most difficult is to have a correct light setup. I had to build the flat stages where the consoles were standing. covered it with metal patterned paper, and testing the reflection of that tinfoil on the stages.

Final thing is compose the scene with a blue floor (light reflecting paper) and a wall that looks like some industrial laboratory background.
(lucky me, I have a whole collection of these type of backgrounds and papers)
testing different angles.

this was with a ceiling but I felt it was just closing the composition to a smaller room.
final setup

Now time to get my tripod and DSLR out to shoot for the final picture.
I asked my daughter to pose for the scene, shooting from a high angle to make her fit.
The person inside the time capsule is a picture of a showroom dummy.
After that is some photoshop work for the final touches and effects.
