The general look will be something like this with the sun in full round view.



The key is to stand somewhere that will give you a definitive classic silhouette.

There's a bridge that Nikolai mentioned which has a great view of this sunset, all the way East crossing 42nd street (By the UN). I think that would be a cool place to be if you're on Manhattan island and have a super Wide Angle lens but probably better if you can get an interesting line view from Queens or Brooklyn.

On May 28th and July 12th the streets of Manhatten are aligned with the sunrise/sunset - sounds like it could be a fun thing to try to capture, photographically speaking.
